Minecraft continues to grow in ways you might never have expected. At Minecraft LIVE 2024, we shared a first-ever look at the pale garden biome and its eerie inhabitant – the creaking.

Everyone knows Minecraft is “creative” and “fun” but if you’ve played a bit, you’ve probably experienced some scary moments too. The pale garden is taking cues from that side of the game.
And now we want to hear what you think! Use this space to discuss and provide feedback on this new biome!

I would like it to be possible to make an orange torch out of resin, which emits dynamic light around the player and which can be placed in the player's left hand

I think there should be two brand new music discs related to the Pale Garden which would be obtainable when a Charged Creeper explodes a Creaking Heart. The first music disc would be obtainable if the Charged Creeper explodes the Creaking Heart during the day, and the second music disc would be obtainable if the Charged Creeper explodes the Creaking Heart during the night.
The biome is too rare. I've had to resort to using ChunkBase just to find a world that has any within a reasonable distance (2000 blocks is my limit to basic travels).
If you have to stick with it being near a dark forest, then make them appear in most dark forests, not just one in whatever it is.
It's hard to get interested in the new biome when I can't even find one.I sincerely think adding White Pumpkins (I'd call them Pale Gourds) to the Pale Garden would add a lot of atmosphere and would be a neat tie-in to Story Mode that actually makes sense, since White Pumpkins are actually a thing in real life.
Making a Jack-O Lantern out of these require soul torches for a blue and white combo would be amazing for decoration aswell.
Alongside other people I also believe that, even if the biome is meant to be a bit hilly, it being tied to the Dark Forest in its generation makes it way too jagged and small, alongside not transitioning well in the scenery and making it a bit of an eyesore.
Personally I'd not make it a sub biome and redesign the trees a bit to make it able to stand more on its own more
If Resin has properties to bring Creaking's to life, then maybe it could be used to create another living being? One that's friendly perhaps? Just being reduced to a decorative block after learning it's used to create Creakings would be a missed oppurtunity
Pale spore blossom. would be cool, would fit the garden vibe, and can use it to make Sooky builds.
People want fog in the pale garden but now i think a weather update needs to happen first for it to be possible.Right now, they'd have to do a bunch of work and revamp the fog system anyway just to add that kind of fog all for one biome. An update dedicated to revamping and remaking the weather system and atmosphere however would let it be possible and then some, completely revamping weather effects and adding new weather into the bargain alongside creepy fog. What if you could make a waterproof TNT using soulsand and resin?
IRL resin can be used as an ingredient in water resistant booms and in minecraft it seems to have life properties, meanwhile soulsand is filled with life energy and expells water at a super fast rate...
Combining those could create a big boom. Underwater TNT for sure but maybe a bigger boom as well?
What if you could make a new redstone block with the creaking heart that was like an observer, but instead activated when an entity moved infront of it? Maybe it could also work through a one-block wall?
Please please please move this whole pale garden to the end.
It makes sense there.I love the blocks but I hate the Biome.
I love Minecraft and think it is (can be) beautiful. The Deep Dark was fine because it was optional. See skulk... don't like the horror aspect? Dig the other way...
But this new overworld biome though it has pretty blocks is really ugly and unrealistic. The Creaking is straight up horror and not suited for young children... just all in all worst update ever.
However... if it was part of the end... We'd still have a way to get the lovely blocks... the end would get much needed variation... and the beautiful and relatively realistic overworld does not get ruined.
Now I get why people are enthusiastic. If you've played this game forever as you can tell by the comments ... it get's "easy" and anything that makes it more challenging is welcomed. And thus people want it even scarier. I get that. But is that what Minecraft is?
But don't forget this is a kids game...
The Pale Garden in the overworld makes little sense... There is no real world equivalent. It really is a blight on the lovely vistas Minecraft offers... and it is very hard and scary for single players. And straight up horror... so is that suitable for a 7 year old?
However very few 7 year olds make it to the end...Registered User commentedComment actions Permalink- Edited

I think if the Pale Garden is meant to be a mirror to Dark Forests then it should have mushrooms...
Maybe the Ink Cap mushroom would be a good choice?
Plus, since IRL if you eat it, it makes you more susceptible to being poisoned by some compounds (but is otherwise okay to eat), maybe if you brewed it you could create a Defense Drop potion?
If a Defense Drop effect is added, the creaking could get it too as part of its first attack to make getting hit by it after the first time more punishing.
Mystery cabin (gravity falls) for new structure for the pale garden biome crossover between minecraft and gravity falls would be perfect for the pale garden mystery theme maybe some gravity falls monsters could be pale garden monsters
i think they could make a new variant of a mushroom that when you touches it you're given blindness and the creakings in surroundings goes like to kill you because you cant see them

Feedback for the Pale Garden Biome: Enhancements for a Truly Unique Experience
Biome Fog: Introducing a dense, grey fog similar to the Nether would heighten the Pale Garden’s eerie, claustrophobic atmosphere. This mist could obscure vision, even disabling night vision, adding a new layer of challenge, especially when facing hostile mobs like the Creaking.
Increased Mob Density: Boosting spawn rates for hostile mobs could make the Pale Garden more dangerous and ideal for mob farms, adding a tactical element to its atmospheric appeal.
Unique Challenge – "The Creaking": The Creaking is intriguing but could benefit from increased difficulty. Enhancing its threat level would make the Pale Garden feel even more daunting and rewarding for players seeking a challenge.
New Visuals and Flora: Adding densely packed trees with varying shapes and heights would give the biome a unique look. Fallen logs that players might trip over would deepen immersion and create new gameplay strategies.
White Pumpkins and Pale Lanterns: Rare "Pale Pumpkins" would be a fun nod to Minecraft: Story Mode. These could be carved, crafted into eerie Pale Lanterns with soul torches, and used as Halloween-themed decorations. When worn, they could cause nearby Creakings to freeze temporarily, adding a strategic use.
Loot and Incentives: Adding rare pillager structures with enhanced loot or unique rewards would make exploring the Pale Garden more rewarding, encouraging deeper exploration and discovery.
In my opinion whats been presented is a good foundation to build on but its not enough.
I think changing and including the follow would make the pale garden a perfect spooky biome:
Make the forest fully monochromatic rather than desaturated, increase the chance of fog in the biome for ambience's sake, add new plants which fit the theme such as thorny plants, change the generation of the trees to be more gnarled and twisted like the creaking itself (perhaps willow trees.), a few more variations of the creaking's model so it can blend in better with the more twisted trees and ambient mobs such as an owl or fireflies which have eyes/emit the same colour as the creaking's eyes making it harder to determine from a distance if its the creaking or not watching the player. If i were to push it further I;d suggest hedges or hedge mazes/sculptures to further the garden side of it and perhaps crypts or graves players can loot as an additional incentive to explore the biome.Though the Pale Garden’s grayed-out sky is atmospheric, it is the wrong feel for the Overworld. Instead of giving a feel that fits the Overworld, it instead feels as if I have stepped into another dimension. But because this biome is still in the Overworld, it doesn’t fit when I walk into the Pale Garden and instead feel like I walked into one of Minecraft’s already existing other dimensions. The Overworld is Minecraft’s hub world that is perfectly designed and balanced to feel like the ‘real’ world, and that is thrown out when I walk into a biome that changes the skybox in a way that makes me feel more like I’m in ‘The End’ dimension. This is not only a problem for balancing the atmospheres of all of the game’s three dimensions, all of which have their own design and purpose, but it can also affect the builds of the many players who enjoy making multi-biome builds. With the already existing biomes, it is possible to work around these things because the sky never changes. For example, if a build that started in a plains biome transitions into a desert biome, this is not a huge problem because the sand can be replaced with slightly different colored grass blocks. While it’s true that it will never rain there, the sky still looks the same, making it easier for a large build to transition between biomes. But a build smoothly transitioning to the Pale Garden is impossible with the grayed out skybox, inevitably making part of the build look like it doesn’t belong in the Overworld.
I'm just loving the new ideas in the new update.(I'm from Brazil, sorry for my English)
Ideas to improve the new mob:1- Jump Scare Damage:To be a scary monster, it must do damage, but not be frustrating enough to kill in one attack. My suggestion is, in addition to the base damage, in its first attack it will cause half of the player's current life, ignoring armor like warden, but without being able to kill, as this depends on the current life, it will not always kill, but it will always give a scare.
2- Climb and Cross Blocks: To correct the idea of blocking the monster with blocks or digging underneath it, since it is similar to trees, it could have the gift of roots. Just like Spiders and Silver Fish, it could climb/cross, mainly blocks of land and trees. As a plus, perhaps leaving him hidden inside the blocks during the day would be interesting.
3- Stalker Strategy: Possibly the most difficult mechanic, but more interesting. After he had carried out an attack on the player, he would hide for a random time, to finally carry out another powerful attack, and it was not easy for the character to keep looking back and tracking his safe position. To do this, after his first attack, the next time the player loses sight he would gain a random invisibility time (from 6 to 20 seconds for example) and would remain still, then return to his normal mode to carry out another attack. It changes the dynamics a little, leaving the player lost and paranoid.Structure ideas for the new biome:
Like every biome, it needs structures, here is a list of ideas I had, trying to be similar to pyramids, temples, etc.
1- Abandoned House: something simple but within the theme, an abandoned house, similar to villages, but full of roots and moss. You can have a mob spawner to make it more adventurous2-Green labyrinth: a maze made of leaves, for players to get lost in the middle of looking for treasures, including good chests and chests with traps. A minotaur would be too much to ask for, right? lol just kidding, hello mojang.
3-Tree house: that's right, maybe a mini wizard's library, with an enchantment table, something similar to an igloo or a witch's house
Coming at this as someone who doesn't enjoy or consume much horror content, I still really like what's going on here. The moss, resin, wood, and flowers are definitely enough reason for me to engage with the biome in every world.
I'm not a fan of the trees just being dark oak reskinned. I get it with the lore, but something taller and skinnier and curvier is where my mind initially went upon hearing the name of the biome. Maybe 2x2 at the bottom, thins to 1x1 and bends, then spreads out for the canopy? As long as the leaves don't go overboard, like with Mangrove trees.
As others have said, fog would improve things greatly. I feel like one more bit of ambience would make it feel complete.
Something like a Pale Songbird? Maybe flightless, but capable of climbing the trees? Makes weird melodic noises in the day, makes scary noises at night. Occasionally pecks the Creaking to collect Resin for a nest or something. Which you can give to tame them, letting you move the source of the bird sounds to your base. Idk! Something.
I feel like the ambient noises are cool, as is being able to move them around with the hanging moss and leaves, but having something physically there to point to and locate that counters the eerie silence of the world would be nice.Fixing The Immersion Problem In The Pale Gardens
Firstly, I love how hard Mojang is trying to make the Pale Gardens feel as alive, atmospheric, and immersive as possible. I personally think that, especially with the recent previews/betas/snapshots, the Pale Gardens is one of the most immersive biomes in the Overworld, besides the Deep Dark. That being said, the Pale Gardens has what I call, an "immersion problem."
The main strength of the Pale Garden is that it immerses the player into the experience, as previously mentioned, however, at night, the constant spawning of "basic mobs," like creepers, skeletons, zombies, etc. detract from that sense of atmospheric horror by interrupting the player's sense of dread.
In order to fix this immersion problem, removing all the basic mobs, or at the very least, reducing the amount of them could help amend the problem. One might content that by doing so, the danger of the Pale Gardens is reduced- a notion with which I would agree with. This means that two fixes are in order: removing/reducing mob spawns, AND increasing the amount of, speed of, and damage output of Creaking in order to compensate for the lack of mob attacks.
Improving the mob spawns and Creaking in this way heightens the immersion and gives the Pale Garden a truly unique experience to offer that is unlike any other in the Overworld.
Thank you Mojang.
TLDR: Remove/reduce mob spawns, increase speed, damage, and amount of Creaking in order to fix immersion detraction.
Make Hostile Mobs Not Burn In The Pale Garden, Since The Sky/Sun Goes Pale As Well. Would Make Sense For Them To Not Burn After They Spawned In The Dark/Night.
Make The Dirt Blocks Go Paler As Well, They Are Highly Saturated Still. Ruining The Whole Pale Mood :P

I would say give the creaking heart more functionality...
Right now you can just spawn your own creakings, but what if they were passive? That way it could boost functionality in farms, with the player being able to afk in one place. The mobs would swarm you, and then all the passive creakings would attack the mobs (since the mobs are not looking at it)
This also fixes the lack of incentive to go to the pale garden in the first place, since now people want to go at night, and get the creaking heart for use in xp and mob farmscan/will the white wood be dye-able? it would be nice to add more color to builds. easy way to do that would be to make the new white wood dye-able. using a crafting table, similar to dying glass or concrete, etc etc.
Can we also get craftable options for saddles and horse armor and dog armor (outside of armadillos)?
Can we also get more options for copper use? we should be able to use it for tools and weapons and armor, etc. it can be weaker than iron but stronger than leather. OR be stronger than iron and weaker than gold (if you buff up the gold strength as well?)?
The new upcoming biome in Minecraft, Pale Garden, is a sort of replica of Dark Oak Forest, but it looks like it is more mysterious, colorless, older, or dying. The trees growing in Pale Garden are moduled very similarly to Dark Oak trees.
Thus, if those trees (Pale oak and Dark oak) are similar — both oaks — the Pale oak should drop an apple, as do the other oak trees in Minecraft.
But the apple, that would be dropped from Pale Oak shouldn't be the same, as dropped from other oaks. It also should be sort of "pale". Might be as well give a poison effect to a player after it is eaten (like those new flowers for bees).
*And if going even further, this "pale apple" should also have it's own "golden variant", or something, with a unique effect. But it is not necessary.
P.S.
I really like the new "smaller" update, introducing orange "dye" for our armors. Thank you.
And sorry for my grammar.
Short suggestion for new "resin".
It should have new functionality - after applied to a sign, it cannot be edited. And if the player would like to edit a sign, he must destroy it.
White Pumpkins/Pumpkin Patches: Not only would adding white pumpkins to the pale gardens be so cute and add to the atmosphere, being able to shear the white pumpkins so they look like ghasts!! (The seeds could be super dark in contrast to regular pumpkin seeds).
Fireflies: Fireflies should spawn in the pale gardens and in the mangrove/swamp biomes, I miss the idea of them being in added during the wild update(
More Flora in the Pale Gardens!: I love the eyeblossom addition, I need more. If its gonna be called a garden, It needs more flora (varying in size/height would be so cool), It also doesn't need to be colorful. I'm talking leaves on the ground and fallen logs with mushrooms and moss growing on them.
Additional changes: It should be renamed pale forest or weeping forest, the wood should be called "willow trees/wood". I think adding a varying size and look to the trees would be great. make the forest bigger. I want this forest to feel like its swallowing you whole. We need the addition of fog and no music (unless new music is added) except for the subtle sounds of weeping winds in the forest. The only mobs that should spawn (that are currently in game) alongside the creaking is skeletons (even then it should be at a lower spawn rate). Add an incentive to go into this forest like a structure with loot. (graveyard, pumpkin patch, statues, abandoned tree hut, etc..)
