Minecraft continues to grow in ways you might never have expected. At Minecraft LIVE 2024, we shared a first-ever look at the pale garden biome and its eerie inhabitant – the creaking.

Everyone knows Minecraft is “creative” and “fun” but if you’ve played a bit, you’ve probably experienced some scary moments too. The pale garden is taking cues from that side of the game.
And now we want to hear what you think! Use this space to discuss and provide feedback on this new biome!

White and light green flowers in should spawn in this area. Aswell as some new pale mushrooms.
These are some of my ideas:
1. Dense fog: I think it's a common opinion among players that we need a denser fog, similar to the alpha versions or the Nether fog, at least during the day.
2. Remove the sun: The sun should not be visible in the Pale Garden, increasing the player's feeling of discomfort.
3. Permanently cloudy sky: If removing the sun isn't possible, make the sky always cloudy, like on rainy days. The savannah can be cloudy on rainy days without raining elsewhere. I think it's possible to add a cloudy overlay to this biome without requiring rain in other areas.
4. Trees resembling saplings: Some trees should have a shape similar to saplings or be arranged in a different pattern (e.g., a + shape like Nether fungi), making the tree structure more willow-like.the leaves are too light now
The biome could make compasses and maps not work properly so it is easy to get lost in the forest, along with the addition of fog.
I enjoy the new wood type but the biome feels dead and in a way that doesn't feel spooky, but just... uninteresting. The tree shape could use some work and even more inspiration from nature. I think the repaint of the dark oak isn't exciting. Perhaps like others have said, more varied shapes. A sycamore-style tree could add interest and make it feel different. The garden title either needs work or needs more plants. Bushes, vines and perhaps more white flowers could help with the garden vibes. Perhaps some poisonous plants could be cool. I am sure this is just the start of the updates, but I would love to see more. Maybe a white mushroom? Puffballs could be fun. They grow huge but if they grow too long they pop and spread spores in a dangerous manner... Just an idea.

This biome has a lot of potential; however, it seems considerably underdeveloped at this time. These are some ideas to fill it out a bit more and give it some personality.
- Biome Generation First off, the biome should be surrounded completely by dark oak forest instead of simply adjacent to it. It would feel a lot less jarring to the landscape, and have it feel like a secluded sub-biome.
- Atmospheric Fog Next, biome fog would give it a good atmosphere. It would make it feel dimmer and denser, even in the it the daytime due to that, and would really help the creaking mob to stand out. (Its eyes would really glow through the fog in a neat way).
- More Diversity It also needs some sort of something special to the biome. For a "Pale Garden," it feels a lot like a "Pale Graveyard," which I do like, however even at that, it still needs something more unique. It feels very flat with just trees and moss, as we already have them in plenty of other biomes.
- Obstacles Some obstacles similar to sweet berries would make gameplay more interesting. This could be by dead bramble bushes, or cobweb-like undergrowth to make running traversing this particular biome more challenging.
- Structures Some sort of unique structure. Finding an abandoned garden, statue, or even grave, (Perhaps a mausoleum, this could act as a mini dungeon?) would add plenty of atmosphere, and up the spook factor by quite a bit.
- Atmosphere Last but not least, some sort of distraction/jump-scare to put you more on edge without relying only on the creaking, yet could also add some more "false alarms,' hyping up the mob a bit more. This could be something that resembles the creaking's eyes, something that sound similar to the creaking, and of course a classic, some sort of snapping twigs. (The snapping twigs could also be repurposed by players as some sort of trap/alert system, giving a cool new mechanic, and reason to explore for the biome.)

Cheap horrors like the three hostiles (zombies, spiders and skeletons) literally shouldn't be there, in fact, NO MOBS should naturally spawn there (just as it was written in the article), which should actually scare the player more of the biome. (I know that'd make it easier to defeat the Creaking, but it would be psychologically scarier, just like playing the peaceful mode in caves gives a feeling of terror)
You guys can keep the hostiles in hard mode just for fun, but please, don't keep them in the Normal mode
Also, you guys may consider adding some sounds at 15-19 Hz, that'd actually give you the creepiness of the Pale Garden. Just a crazy idea though...Please take this game drop as an opportunity to finally add the unused illusioner (maybe make them spawn at night in the pale garden?) & improve upon the woodland mansions. Maybe they could have way better loot & basements with special trial spawners? In fact, as some people already explained here, woodland mansions should generate in pale gardens and maybe use the new pale oak wood there! Although nowadays I rarely explore woodland mansions, when I do, I still enjoy them a lot! So there should be more rewards going for it
So the heart seems to be like a parasite to the trees of this biome. It would be an interesting lore feature to have the biome be affected by deaths that occur within, growing lusher like if bonemealed as if feeding the heart.
Now imagine if this was true and new flowers and mushrooms were also implemented. An example of what could be done is a farm where a mob grinder drops falling mobs onto pistoning dirt to collect biome specific flowers/mushrooms. Could they just use normal bonemeal? Yes, but what if there was a special type of flower, mushroom, or mycelium among the added flowers/fungi that can only be obtained by something dying in the biome.
This special flower or mushroom item and resultant mushroom block could just be decorative or have a feature. The mushroom block can give us another color or shade to the palette and possibly has an interesting subtle animation. Maybe cool ambient noises or visual effects are occasionally played by a placed plant (but not in flower pots) so players can up the spooky of builds. Examples: tiny, transparent will-o-wisps or subtle, intermittent environmental noises like aeolian sounds or soft almost whispers.
Maybe the mushroom block would have a custom noteblock sound, like the almost sigh you hear from soul sand. Maybe any new mushroom can only be grown into large form by the player on pale moss.
What if one of the plants was a standalone, placeable form of the mycelium that crawls up blocks from the pale moss carpet, coming up to feed?
at night in pale gardens, there should be a chance for animals and mobs to be possessed for the night like in herobrine mod and start attacking you
Make it a cave biome, the night and day mechanic would enhance the experience of an underground Pale Garden biome, adding an element of uncertainty when exploring pale garden caves. The mechanic would add ambiguity about whether the creakings are spawning or not, and when they do it would feel almost random due to the lack of sunlight.
Additionally, similar to how azalea trees mark lush caves from the surface, pale oak trees or small pale oak garden biomes could spawn on the surface, marking the larger pale garden caves. Also, pale garden caves would give more of an incentive to explore due finding ores
Hi, I've been reading the comments and I agree with someone who proposed changing the their tree tops cover the night sky.
I also really like how it changes the sky to gray inside the biome, Maybe there could be some fog at the ground level, have it appearing thanks to some type of grass or something so you can clear out a part of the forest's fog for your builds...
And finally, this is a problem I tend to have playing in general, I always find very difficult finding specific biomes. There are just so many! I suppose it's really hard to find a balance point...
I have three main areas where I would love to see the Pale Garden grow:
1. Ruins: The "Garden" part of the biome name implies that this is a place that has been purposefully planted and tended, at least to some extent. Adding ruins throughout the Garden--crumbled walls, collapsed terraces, remains of paths that lead nowhere--could add a haunting feeling to the biome. Additionally, these ruins could be places to find suspicious gravel, adding incentive for players to stay a while and dig for treasure, such as new pottery sherds, armor trims, or banner patterns.
2. Biome Variation: As other users have pointed out, adding fog to further obscure vision, making the trees taller/a different shape, and adding some flowers, mushrooms, or similar vegetation could add to the visual interest of the biome. (Sidenote, I absolutely love how the Pale Moss grows up the block faces around it, I think that is very cool and unique and I am so excited to use it)
3. Mob Encounters: I think the Creaking is so cool and unique, and right now it feels a little too easy to avoid. Making it impossible to sleep through the night in this biome could help force encounters with the Creaking, and add even more of a menacing feel to the biome as a whole.
All in all, I love what I have seen of the Pale Garden so far, and I am so excited to see how it continues to develop!

This is a great idea for a update and we really appreciate you listening to our feedback. But please Mojang, don't just add one thing and be like "We're done, we've listened to the community." There is tons of great feedback here and together we can make this game drop a masterpiece.
Interesting biome and I like the idea. Here are some ideas I think would enhance the 'eerie' feeling:
- No other mobs naturally spawning in it. Why? They distract from the feature you should focus on: the new creaking mob; and break the immersion of the biome's atmosphere. It goes from eerie and creepy to just annoying by the sheer amount of zombies/skeletons/creepers & spiders chasing you. There's not even a bit of time to dedicate to the creaking because of this.
- Higher creaking spawn rate. Either this or increase their radius from the heart. reasoning: more of them chasing you.
- Creaking mobs avoiding making a line. The reasoning is simple for this one: make them try to avoid clumping into a blob/line, so they circle you more effectively. This makes it so you have to turn around to look at all of them, which in turn gives others chances to attack and move.
- Make them teleport you short distances when hitting you, akin to a chorus fruit (but without the sound), to disorient you & give other creaking a chance to move. It borrows a bit from Dr.Who and I feel it would fit neatly with how they work.
- Make their animations pause the instant you look at them so you can't catch them moving by turning around quickly. Also make them pause their animations halfway if they're seen while executing them, so if they attack you, let them have their arm slightly raised until they have another chance to move. This also indicates that they were about to / just hit you.
WOW!!!!
One way to add a little more depth to the pale garden would be with a unique village type. It could look abandoned during the day, but have non-sleeping villagers who appear at night. They would of course be passive, but perhaps unsettling in some way. They could have a couple of unique trades (maybe having something to do with the creaking heart). Maybe there is a locksmith villager who can convert keys from the trial chambers into keys that can be used with doors and chests.
Pale "OAK" not willow, but why they have willow tree as saplings
Please make willow tree and replace with pale oak
I've been playing a survival game in the pale garden, and I love it. The sounds are immaculate, and if you don't want to trash the biome, the Creaking becomes a mob threat that you can't deal with without sleeping. It's fun to deal with.
Contrary to what I've heard suggested, I ended up liking the exposed dirt as a pop of colour in the biome, I've ended up using granite, dirt, bricks, etc. alongside lots of gray-scale blocks, and it's good. As it stands, the biome is greyscale + brown, and those colours work well.
Pale Oak Saplings could be used as decoration in the biome. They look good: just have them generate on the ground to give the biome a bit more life and clutter.
Alternatively, they could generate on pale moss, like azalea does.
Regarding the suggestion for fog in the Pale Garden: If this is implemented I would suggest that the fog is tied in with the moon cycle getting progressively heavy and disappearing completely depending on the moon's stage. Also, during rainfall and thunder, the fog could be heavier. Finally, the fog should only be present at night (unless raining) as persistent fog is likely to be very annoying.

Players need some reason to come here, the pale wood and moss is cool and all but it can be collected during the day, we need something that forces players to explore at night! I propose the pale blossom, a sort of flower that generates randomly and uncommonly every night in the pale gardens. One of my favorite items in the game is the spore blossoms (the big pink upside down flower) because it allows me to add a nice particle effect to any of my builds. This flower would be similar, it creates a sort of particle effect that resembles fog. Imagine being able to add fog to any build! Because it generates randomly and uncommonly, players will have to wander around the pale garden for some time trying to find a few, which is the goal of adding an incentive. But it won't be so rare that it takes forever to find just one.
see my post Pale Blossom- Fog Emitting Plant for more details.

Sometimes the immersion of the pale garden biome can be ruined by all the color and happiness in the biome next door, all you have to do is look left, toward the biome next to the pale garden and the entire vibe is destroyed. I suggest that while in the garden your render distance is limited to the pale garden, meaning that if you look left, all you will see is whiteness. This will also give a feeling of being trapped, like you don't really know how to get out of here. It will also make leaving the pale gardens rather disorienting, giving players a sudden shock when they do see all the color. (I made a post about this).
The dirt needs to be more pale! It ruins the vibe and makes it look like any other old biome! We need a new dirt block, or you can just make it like grass, which changes its shade based on the biome you put it in.
Sleeping should be reversed in the pale garden, nobody wants to wait for an entire Minecraft day before exploring the pale gardens (assuming you add some incentive for nighttime exploration), so sleeping in a bed should be available during the day and skip you to sunset! This would be a really cool and unique mechanic that I can imagine being used in many different ways! It also has the benefit of forcing players to try and escape the Creaking instead of just sleeping to skip too morning.
I love the new pale oak, and the new creepy mobs at night! I'll also admit, I miss the April Fools Potato "wood" and planks. Having that green wood just added so much more variety to construction options. I wonder if we could bring some of those potato blocks back for real?
I think the Pale Garden should be easier to find, so if we had a map to find it like the Tricky Trials, that would be awesome! Also, we could call the update "The Pale Update".

If you ever intended to add white pumpkin patches, make it like a glistering melon where it is turned into a potion ingredient so it has a special use to it. Maybe add a rare drop for the creaking as well to integrate both things to make a "glistering" (think of another name) pumpkin.
I wish, no other mobs than the creaking can spawn in the pale
garden. That gives the feeling to be alone and watched. It's like the
ancient city then. And make the palegardens bigger, so that you can't easily escape.
please vote
i think something similar from apples should drop from the trees
