Maybe the creaking heart can be used to create a redstone block that detect block colors, for example concreate blocks have 16 color variations, which can be match with 1 of the 16 signal strengths that exist

Scary is always welcome as minecraft needs more of it, but this biome also needs useful loot to make people go here at night. Had the pale gardens spawn exclusively underground, it could be scarier and harder to escape. There's not enough biomes underground, and too many biomes on the surface. There's opportunity for new materials here like trinkets that could make the fletching table finally useful. The trees can also be taller, creating a hazy jungle underground. Make this biome more interesting.

The biome itself I think should either have a minimum size, or be isolated from other biomes. This ensures the biome has like a creepy never ending lost forest kind of effect.

A small forest gives the idea that this is just a little friendly forest that is easy to traverse, which I don't think fits the theme so far.

Another option is to make this like the mushroom island, completely on its own (possibly another island like the mushroom island)

    Hello!
Before I get into my main complaint about the Pale Garden biome, I have to say that I love everything about it so far. I love the new wood set, and I'm sure I'll be putting it to good use in my builds.

Now, I think we have a problem with naming trees "pale oaks". The trunk textures are different from plain oak, and I think this Pale Garden update/drop could be a good opportunity to rename both "pale oak" and "dark oak" to other types of trees.

Just like I don't call the drowned "zombie drowned", just like the bogged has its own name, I think we should give those two types of wood a name to make them feel more unique. Just removing the "oak" part of the name would go a long way, since a "pale wood tree" would be pretty self-explanatory and effective.

I wonder if it would be possible to change that small detail since if someone asks me for "oak wood" I will now have 3 valid options for their request and if we rename the ones that are not "plain oak" to other types of trees, I will be able to identify that the person who asks me for "oak wood" is asking me for a specific wood.

    Thank you for reading.

I just tested it and I feel my immersion was ruined by the other night time mobs spawning. I think it'd be way better if normal monsters didn't spawn and it was just you and the creaking.

I liked the general look of the pale garden though, maybe some withered flowers though and some arches

It is the perfect opportunity to add white mushrooms to the game, we already have red and brown mushrooms, white mushrooms are needed, with a new shape that makes the biome unique. If the pale garden its a variant of the dark forest, then it should have mushrooms as well

the pale oak/dark oak idea is cool ! i dont mind that its a variation of an existing biome. i do feel like the trees could be a little bit more different than dark oak trees still. ive always wanted willow trees in minecraft so hearing that was inspiration got me excited! maybe keep the same trunk but just let the leaves droop down lower? that way it looks similar to the dark oak trees but still more unique. or a taller, but similarly shaped trunk with more droopy leaves would also be cool.

also it is called the pale *garden* so it is strange that there isn't at least some flowers. even if its just ones we already have - some white flowers would add a lot. maybe lily of the valley? that pairs with the deadly aesthetic.

i just spent some time trying to find a pale garden in a newly generated world. these spawn super small currently. sometimes even without a creaking heart block. i'd like it a lot if it was at least a little bit bigger - ideally at least always one creaking heart spawned so that you still have the danger.

other leaf blocks turning pale is cool, i think you could still add the opposite that pale leaves stay the same in other biomes too. we definitely have enough regularly colored leaves, ones that look withered that can be placed anywhere would be really cool and valuable.

What if planting pumpkin seeds in this biome would grow white pumpkins? These pumpkins would not give seeds, so they could only be obtained if they were planted in this biome, encouraging players to go there if they want to get them.

The pale garden does not feel different, the type of trees should be changed, sea similar to the sprout, it would add the feeling of being a unique biome.

I would also add new flowers in shades of white and gray to match the name of the biome.

And mist like in some nether biomes to add more immersion.

This biome definitemy needs a reward for going there, like a new useful item you can only find there, maybe in a new structure ?

the pale garden is cool, would be nice to get more pale blocks like pale bricks as the bright red ones don't fit in too well with a lot of builds and stone bricks are too different from bricks.

Potentially rename the Pale Gardens to Creaking Woods

    asymmetrical pale tree

Perhaps you could consider designing a new type of asymmetrical tree similar to the new mob. For example, some trees could be 4x4 but shorter, while others could be 3x3 but taller, and so on.

The name "pale garden" doesn't suit it, it doesn't feel like a garden, and it feels like an even more empty version of the dark forest, alter the design of the tree, Add small typical garden constructions., flowers, more variety of trees, two more new trees, so that it really feels like a garden. (well, new trees is a lot to ask for xd) or rename it Pale Woods

Fog will amplify the scare! Replace the boring grass blocks with something darker and otherworldly, as this biome currently feels like it's just a lazy reskinned dark oak forest. Make the Creaking + trees taller and scarier. It's too easy to skip the challenge by climbing upwards. The heart needs to be renewable with the saplings.

There's a significant game design issue here. Why would I go here at night? Can't I just use a bed? There needs to be useful rewards at night other than blocks, not all of us are Hermitcraft builders. We need meaningful additions that integrates with existing content, like vines spawning at night, fused with copper on fletching tables to create hookshots, this also enhances the gameplay of exploration.

The heart is advertised as a redstone tool to guard bases, but it's pointless if it only functions at night. This could've been a cave biome instead, allowing the Creaking to spawn anytime. A cave forest would be more interesting and scary!

I appreciate this update as horror content is essential for Minecraft youtubers. But I feel like as many others online have said, this update feels underwhelming. I hope for bigger updates next time like ender/aether/sculk dimension, as these will create youtube hype for years. This biome feels like it should've been part of an End update. Next year will be very competitive with sandbox games like GTA6, youtubers/streamers will gravitate there, but I hope Minecraft content can keep up with better updates!

Perhaps we could consider adding a glowing spore to the moss that resembles the eyes of the Creacking. It would be amazing to walk through that biome, feeling somewhat unsure if you actually saw the Creacking or not.

I think the pale garden biome is way to unspectacular.

I have a few important and helpful tips:

    • adding actual fog to the biome
    • making it larger
    • creating a huge variety of the pale oak, instead of just using the dark oak model
    • adding particles that look like the eyes of the creaking to confuse the player
    • adding more forest like and creepy ambient sounds: wind blowing through leaves, cracking branches, sounds of something walking through a bush, etc.
    • creaking branches (little versions of the creaking, randomly spawning and despawning at night)
    • and of course: giving the player a valid reason to go there!

I hope my tips were understandable.

I think that the biome should have graves added to it, to amplify the "creep" factor. Maybe little burial sites could spawn in with a few graves each, and you'd have to use a brush on the gravestones to see what was buried. Maybe a little picture of the buried being's head. Caskets could be a neat new storage block, maybe they would display the items that you placed in them. Coloring them/different wood types would be fun as well. Some decent loot like gold, human armor, dog armor, horse armor, (and obviously bones) could be fun to find and give the biome more of an incentive.

I've seen several people suggest the creaking heart give off a redstone output when looked at which I think would make it a really worthwhile place to bring a silk touch pickaxe to!

I'd also love if you could "artificially" activate the creaking heart for decorative purposes, maybe with a redstone power input?

Honestly, I’m not a fan of the new Minecraft update. To me, the Pale Garden and the Creaking feel like something out of modded Minecraft rather than a creation from Mojang. The Pale Garden comes across as a replica of the dark oak biome, but with a washed-out, pale aesthetic that doesn’t feel distinct enough. While the developers have mentioned that they took inspiration from the willow tree for its eerie vibe, I don’t think it captures that feeling well at all. And why call it a garden when there is nothing garden about it? It’s definitely more of a forest.

On the other hand, the Creaking mob is a unique and interesting addition, and I can see its potential in the game. However, in its current form, it doesn’t feel dangerous enough to add any real challenge. The mob only deals about a heart of damage and moves too slowly to pose a real threat. I’d love to see it become a more menacing adversary.

One positive aspect of the update is the addition of the new white wood type, though I do think it looks a bit too pink for my liking. I also wish there was more depth to the biome itself. Adding new flower types or some other unique elements could bring more character to the Pale Garden and make it stand out.

Overall, I’m not overly impressed with this update. While there are some cool ideas, I think they could be refined further to feel more like authentic Minecraft additions.

You have to add some more things to the pale gardens, add some fog and name it "Pale Forests" it would be cooler

My imagination is quite limited but the first thing that comes to mind when I look at this forest is that it would be perfect to introduce a structure for one or more witches.
This would give an explanation for the existence of the Creakings who would actually act as guardians to prevent intruders from approaching and also potentially why the atmosphere of this forest is so strange.

This might be an opportunity to add some extra interest to the biome by integrating some sort of reward inside.

If the biome is much larger there might be a very small spot with a pond that would be one of the few places untouched by this sort of curse in the biome. The opportunity for the player to collect fish to feed himself and take a break.

    Here is my feedback :

    Good :

    • Sounds coming from the blocks is great.
    • The sky color changing is very nice too.

    To improve :

    • The hanging moss looks like a tangled mess of pixels, i did some tests and it looks way better when each indivual vines are un-tangled.
    • Needs more ambiance: the sky and sounds are good but it needs more (ex: fog, particles, ...), especialy at night when the grayness of the sky as disappeared.
    • Not enough of a garden: it needs more flora, from my testing tall-ferns look great in it, but a new pale flower would also be perfect, and maybe some small mysterious garden-like set-pieces would be great too (ex: some dark-oak fence-posts with soul lanters on them); this will also help with ambiance.
    • Needs a new tree shape: i know you used the dark oak for its bulkiness (to hide the hearts inside it) but for such a cool biome a new warped-looking tree to compliment its hanging moss would be great
    • To many hostile mobs: it shift too much our focus from the creaking and it breaks this feeling of fake-emptiness that the biome tries to acomplish; i propose that the radius around each natural heart has reduce mob spawning to refocus our attantion on the creaking.
    • Each tree needs moss under its trunk, so there is no ugly exposed dirt.
    • The white particle around each creaking when they spawn is too visible/easy-to-spot wich break the feeling of surpise.
    • It may be too much to ask but : pale-moss-carpets dripping-down moss from the side of blocks would be great too.

    Hope it helps !

This biome feels too small and rare... I think it's much much better if the pale garden is underground with useful new ores to mine, that way the creaking can spawn as a challenge even during daytime, and there's a nice new reward to go here. Currently the biome is also ugly and boring, it needs new dark blocks to replace the dirt.

First, this comment is a copy of another one I made in another post but since it's all now in one place I thought it would be useful to put it here as well (Sorry if this is a bad thing to do).

    Now for the idea :
The pale garden is an opportunity to add hostile plants.
For example, one or two carnivorous plants. At least one could eat insects like bees, I also saw people mention fireflies that would give a better atmosphere to the biome.
For the player, one of the carnivorous plants could simply catch it and slow it down a little or something else. Some carnivorous plants in real life close if you touch them even if they are too small to do anything, it would be a similar effect here.

Their textures would be adapted to this biome (or maybe each biome they are), making them less easy to see.
Players will be able to pick them up like flowers and use them for decoration or for a little defense even if limited. For example, simply slow down monsters, pillagers or players.

One of the hostile plants could have a more friendly appearance to attract an insect or maybe even the player. I don’t know what it might look like but maybe it could have a very similar shape to another plant/object. This makes think of the trapped chest recognizable only by its red mark.

It would also be interesting to have a completely unique type of carnivorous plant, fully adopting the game's own identity.

There might be a plant that if touched applies Mining fatigue, Weekness or Slowness effect for a few seconds.

The pale oak trees need to have a distinct shape from dark oak trees. The mangrove swamp is a sub-biome of the swamp, but has unique tree shapes and generation, so I don't see why the Pale Garden needs to be exactly the same as the Dark Forest but with no giant mushrooms/oak trees/birch trees. Maybe make them taller and look more like the willow trees they're based on.

Make a different tree shape, because it looks like a dark oak, and on Minecraft Live you showed a willow tree, even the sapling is beautiful, like a willow tree with branches, but the tree shape is not like that, please.

And to be able to grow a tree from one sapling, not four because it's difficult and inconvenient to do so

And the tree itself - a little higher or leave it like that, or branches higher and further to the sides, and the length of the branches, for example, as in : Cherry tree

And it would be great to add fireflies to such an unusual biome, for atmosphere.

Many have already highlighted that without a structure biome feels like it lacks reason to explore. If Mojang is open to a structure I suggest that an enchanting tower could be useful. This could be a very good reason for early game players who have yet to get enchanted gear to brave the forest. At the top would be an enchanting table, a few book shelves, and a limited supply of lapis perhaps enough to get one set of armor and a weapon enchanted.

I also saw someone elsewhere on the internet suggest adding the Illusioner to the biome and if Mojang wanted to further increase the challenge for the reward of an early enchanting table this could be another option but I think would demand more bookshelves be present so it's really worth it.

When sleeping in the pale garden it will pop a message in chat saying "A force prevented you from sleeping" making the player unable to sleep in pale gardens!!
