Expanding the trunk thickness and adding holes/openings through some of the trunks, where upon entry, randomly teleports you elsewhere within a certain radius (much like the chorus fruit mechanic). This can disorientate the player but also help them frantically escape the creaking (if they are buffed or swarmed). An interesting story telling structure within the garden such as a fountain made of end bricks, perhaps alludes to the idea that these 'rifts' within the trees reflect a weakened overworld stability in this biome and are connected to the end dimension. This gives reasoning also for its pale tone, as if its life is being absorbed by these rifts.

(raising the canopy height will allow for thicker trailing vines to help them look more alike weeping willow trees, and also grants creativity for the shape of the openings within some trunks).

This makes the biome extremely unique, fits within the disorienting nature of the sound affects, and brings a unique way of countering being swarmed by the creaking (allows them to have a buff). It also allows them to be given a useful drop to create a strong reason to collect the heart as a spawner. With the creaking & rift (chorus) teleportation, in its own right is already a fun challenge to dart around trying to draw the mobs away for you to get closer to the heart.

edit: also makes sense why the creaking look like they do (similar to the enderman) if the end dimesnsion is disrupting this biome and morphing its mobs

I also agree, if they could make it look even more like a willow that would be cool. It should not be an identical desaturated copy of Dark Oak.

I think the base (bottom 2-3 blocks of trunk) should remain 2x2 (to help camouflage the Creaking) but a more asymmetrical upper trunk, branches & leaf arrangement would give it a more unique identity. The texture for the Pale Oak sapling shown had a twisty look to it, would be great if the grown trees also reflected this.

I'd way rather they made the trees actually look like Willow trees, which they referenced in the reveal trailer.

Because they mentioned them as inspiration, yet they look nothing like Willow Trees.

Yes. Any difference in tree generation design from the Dark Oak would be preferred, but specifically, a more "Weeping Willow" esque design, just as the creators said where their inspiration came from, would be much needed to ensure the Pale Gardens aren't just a desaturated Dark Oak Forest.
