Make. Minecarts. Faster.

Just make them faster. Don't make them fall off the rails, that's what mare everyone mad the first time you made them faster. Just. Make. Them. Faster. Riding a minecart is barely faster than sprint jumping, and WAY slower than a Boat on Ice, which is MUCH more accesssible!
