When landing a killing blow on an enemy, any excess damage dealt is stored in the axe for a few seconds, empowering it and giving it a red glint. While empowered, your next attack consumes the excess damage, adding it on top of the axe’s regular damage. Higher enchantment levels would empower the axe for longer time periods (but the empowered attack would still be consumed in one hit). For balance purposes, killing an enemy with an empowered attack would not generate another empowered attack. Only regular attacks would generate empowered attacks.
This enchantment would be the axe’s equivalent of the sword’s Sweeping Edge; it helps when dealing with large groups of mobs, while still staying true to the axe’s identity as a slow, high damage, single-target weapon. It also takes away the wasteful feeling of dealing 15+ damage to a mob that only has 5 health left.
