I was wondering if anyone else online realized that Attack Speed was the true way to rein in the upcoming Mace- not the insane damage (which is what most people fuss about)- to allow it to stay powerful but still leaving room for your other options to shine. I'll add my own arguments below:

By reducing the Mace's swing speed, even by a small amount (my reckoning is to 1.3, that number will need testing though), it helps distinguish the mace as mechanically different from the Swords. Slower than the sword, and lacking their swipe, means that the Mace can be outsped and overwhelmed by swords on the ground and adds more incentive to play to the Mace's strengths- which is where it shines over the sword, axe, and trident.

Reducing the attack speed of the Mace also makes it more important to time your swings, regardless of how far you're falling- as the larger cooldown makes it more costly to whiff your shot; it means that the Mace would demand just a little more precision in order to use it to its full potential.

Though this may be a nerf on paper, reducing the Mace's attack speed will arguably benefit it- as it emphasizes the mace being a heavy weapon by backing it up mechanically, making it that much more distinct from its peers. It'd add to the Mace's identity while being a subtle change-- yet one with a big impact, if you will!
