This has brought up before and eventually abandoned as it was, at the time, true that the community had modding handled and no work was needed to be done to make this a reality. This is not the case anymore. The modding community has split into a bunch of modloaders that all seem to be forking/splitting because of developers personal political agendas/beliefs. While I will not say that anyone should be forced to work in a community that harbors ill will toward their beliefs the end-user ultimately suffers. Forge has a steep learning curve but ultimately more freedom and heft to what one can accomplish. Fabric is light, easily approached, and runs faster on average. Quilt is, not to be rude, a worse Fabric that does not bring very much to the modding world and NeoForge is something... Basically what I am getting at is the end-user is the one left to suffer from the fragmentation of the community and the MC Devs could change that significantly. If you created a Java API that had the approachability of Fabric, the versatility of Forge, unified all mods to a singular modloader, and was well documented on your website the benefits are endless. You would draw in new modders, answer the cries of the community, establish something that could be used to introduce kids (and adults) to the STEM field in a fun way, and show Minecraft players that you are listening and care! This API could be integrated into already existing infrastructure(CurseForge) and make Minecraft explode!
