The Shepperd’s Cane is a simple item that would change the way you interact with animals, allowing you to issue a command other than “sit” and “stand”. The Shepperd’s Cane could be obtained from a simple crafting recipe, or provide a new trade to the otherwise undesirable shepherd villager
- Wolves: Using the Shepperd’s Cane with a wolf allows the player to issue commands like “herd” or “track”, allowing easy roundup, sorting, and movement of animals before obtaining slime balls for leads, and searching for specific mobs or structures without needing third-party apps. (See this suggestion on dog breeds for specifics)
- Parrot: Using the Shepperd’s Cane with a mob drop in the off-hand allows players to add or remove mobs to the list of mobs imitated by the parrot.
- Allay: Using the Shepperd’s Cane on an Allay, then on a not block would lock that Allay to that note block until the Shepperd’s Cane is used again. This circumvents repeating note blocks and the inconsistencies they bring when Allays wander outside of range or the note block gets unloaded
- Foxes: Using the Shepperd’s Cane on a trusted fox with an item in the off-hand allows the player to give that item to the fox to hold, without it dropping it in favor of food.
- Sheep, Cows, Pigs, Chickens, and other farm animals: Holding the Shepperd’s Cane while near one of these animals compels them to keep a distance of 4-5 blocks from the player (like the opposite of wheat or carrots), allowing the player to herd them.
