With the recent addition of wind charges in snapshot 24w06a, it seems only natural that our old friend the fire charge is given a similar use case as well.
Using a fire charge should consume the item and shoot a "small fireball" projectile in the direction the player is aiming.
This projectile has identical properties to the fireballs shot by a blaze or dispenser, and will travel in a straight line and accelerate over time. Upon hitting an entity, the projectile will deal 5 points of damage (2.5 hearts) and light the entity on fire for 4 seconds. The projectile will light blocks on fire upon hitting the top of a block, or the side/underside of a flammable block.
To prevent spamming, the fire charge has a 0.5 second cooldown after use, similar to the wind charge and ender pearls.
Overall, I feel that this change would add some interesting options to PVP and PVE without being overwhelmingly powerful, as well as provide a new use case for an item that has limited uses while being fairly expensive to craft.
