Minecraft for years has had balancing issues, and a lot of the posts here discussing MC being harder don't tackle the real issues, they focus on endgame features, I want core gameplay fixes.
MC was balanced back in beta 1.7.3, the following updates added features making MC easier and now people get bored (you know the 2 week MC phase).
There are players who don't want MC to be too hard, which is why easy should stay the same.
Here are the features that make the game easier
-beds
-sprinting
-elytra
-netherite
-enchantments
-shields
-mob AI being easier to fight
Here are my proposals:
Add a game rule to disable the ability to sleep, disable elytra, disable netherite, disable enchantments (or be able to limit what level each enchant can be from within the game)
In hard mode, the mobs should actually be hard, so far all hard mode does is make villager trading easier and the mild inconvenience of mobs breaking doors (a few other things like mob spawns and hunger, but it's mostly not noticeable).
Hard mode should give mobs more health and higher attack damage in order to make up for enchantments and netherite
Mobs should also be faster in order to make up for sprinting (not as fast as baby zombies, but making it so zombies can run a little faster in hard mode will go a long way). Creatures should have more powerful explosions).
Mob AI needs to overall be fixed as when a mob is hit, it pauses for a moment before attacking whereas in MC beta the attacks were relentless, this completely breaks PVM
