Copper Bulb Nerf

Let the copper bulb have the original tick delay, it allows the block to be utilized in, and by, far more contraptions, some of which either need some weird workaround redstone to work, or may even be impossible without.

The copper bulb pre-nerf was one of the most exciting redstone additions I've seen in a long time, and reverting it would mean that you have taken away not only the possibilities it would bring, but the excitement along with it.

    For anyone wondering I have a relatively good guess as to why the change was originally made. The 1 tick delay meant that displays were not instantly activated. A zero tick delay (as it currently stands) is better in terms of a very fast accurate display. Despite this logic, I agree that until an alternative 1 block method exists, the 1 tick delay should be kept.

    This makes it unique and useful and without it, it is only a 1 block cop flop. It miniaturizes so much redstone with the previous delay.

    The 1 game tick delay was probably the single most important part of it’s functionality. It gave redstone players so many more options for high precision redstone. Please revert it back for future snapshots and the final release

    Completely agreed. Additionally, I really like the idea of something copper having this 1 tick response. Copper in the real world is known for being a very good conductor of electricity. While electricity and redstone are very different, it would be really cool to have something copper that has the same snappier response times that existed in the previous snapshot.

    Uniformity of block function isn't helpful, we need the copper bulb for special use cases. Please change back

    I think the crafter change makes sense, but I agree the copper bulb should be reduced.  Failing that, some other easy method of adding a one-tick delay should be added.

    I am starting to believe we are being a bit hasty with this request instead of breaking down our problem. Particularly, we would like to have a block that helps us to more conveniently introduce odd tick delays just like the copper bulb did. But this doesn't have to necessarily be the copper bulb. People tended to use it either for its 1 gt delay OR as a T flip-flop, not necessarily both at the same time. However, in T flip-flops and binary counters it can create synchronization issues esp. when the space is tight (such as tileable systems) and probably many other contraptions such as those typically built by computational redstoners. Maybe instead of cramming too much functionality into one block we could have our cake and eat it too by splitting up its original function into two separate blocks.

     

    EDIT: Someone suggested 1/2/3/4 gt of delay depending on oxidation level. I think that's a good idea, but maybe have a delay of 0/1/2/3 gt instead.

    If Mojang are resolute in keeping the Copper Bulb's, they should make it interact with QC.

    They could add a feature that a copper bulb has 1 tik per corrosion state. So no corrosion would be 1 tick. That would make it much more versatile for Redstone.
