Introducing Rope, a versatile new item in Minecraft with a wide range of applications. Rope serves as a valuable tool for crafting, construction, and beyond.
To craft Rope, place three wool vertically in the center of the crafting grid, surrounded by String, yielding 9 Rope.
Rope can be attached to Tripwire hooks and can hang up to 10 blocks. It can also link to other Rope, forming knots at block intersections, similar to End Rods.
Alternatively, Rope can be used as fuel, burning 4 items per Rope. Players can ascend or descend Rope as they would with Vines or Ladders.
For unique applications, players can swing from Rope, akin to Spider-Man's webs. When Rope is held in the offhand while firing a Crossbow or Bow, the Arrow leaves a "Rope" entity in its wake. Upon striking a target, the rope stiffens, allowing players to slowly traverse it when connected to a Tripwire Hook or to swing from it. A maximum of 10 blocks can be descended while swinging on Rope.
Why add Rope to Minecraft? Ropes have existed for nearly 17,000 years, and it's fitting for Steve to craft them. The aesthetic of Rope adds a sense of realism to the game.
A suggestion by u/deathbymanga includes modifying the crafting recipe to yield 3 Rope instead of 9. Additionally, Rope now features knots at the end of each block, enhancing its visual appeal.
