The classic editions of Minecraft for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 are timeless versions that have made countless childhood memories across the world. Since 2019, they have no longer been updated. Some still want those old experiences maintained and preserved, but this is not viable with the Bedrock and Java editions being the main releases for PC and consoles. The only solution is the fans. Since the beginning, Minecraft has always been known for its numerous passion projects made by players. Why not give them a chance to preserve an integral part of Minecraft's history? Let a handful of trusted and passionate fans come together so they can update the legacy editions to the latest version. Once the patch is complete, Mojang would review the code to ensure it is functionally identical to the version that is being ported. Then it could be sent as an update. For starters the Xbox and PlayStation editions. The other platforms like Wii U and Xbox One could follow.
This could be a great passion project that would allow players to preserve the legacy versions for a new generation of players. It could also serve as a testing ground for if Bedrock could be ported to the 360, PS3 and the other legacy platforms. The fans have always tested the limits of what Minecraft can do on PC, maybe this would be a great way to test it on consoles.
