Currently, the volume of Jukeboxes is based on Player position and the orientation of the camera. Unfortunately, the heavy use of Directional Audio combined with headphones often makes the Jukebox too loud or too quiet when the player positions their camera in a certain direction. This makes it not ideal to use the Jukebox for background music while doing other work. More importantly, this problem, if not remedied, could possibly expose the person playing to loud sounds which could cause ear damage or even potential hearing loss. Here are some possible solutions to this problem:
- Modify the way Directional audio is used by the Jukebox.
Frankly, the present implementation of Directional/Spatial audio in respects to the jukebox, is flawed. One reason that I have considered is that this may simply be a bug that is causing the Jukebox to act in a manner contrary to its intended design. If correct, then team at Mojang is likely already aware of this.
- Include an Accessibility setting allowing the Jukebox to play music in a Non-Diegetic Fashion.
Allowing the Jukebox to play Music Disks in a manner similar to the way the game handles the other Non-Diegetic Soundtracks, not only gives the player more flexibility, but also provides a solution to the problems from the audio experience that differs from user to user. (Which is most likely what is causing the problem.)
