Copper Key for locking villager job blocks

I’m sure I’m not the only one who has experienced villagers taking a liking to workstation blocks that we’re using as decoration or otherwise don’t want them to access.

Similar to how copper blocks and signs can be waxed or unwaxed, I think there should be a key item that allows the player to lock or unlock job blocks, preventing villagers from taking the respective job when locked.

Not only would this allow for more decoration without it affecting villager behaviour, but it would also give another use for copper, which is rather underutilised and under-appreciated currently.

The crafting recipe could be something like this: (with C indicating copper ingots)

C  C  [ ]

[ ]  [ ]  C

Villagers that already have locked-in trades with the player are not affected.

    I like the idea but could this function be given to another item or be a toggle in the user interface?

    To give this copper key more of a sandbox use, let it also work on all manner of non-ender chests, including those mounted on animals and vehicles. That way you could protect yourself from thieves in vanilla multiplayer.
