One of the biggest issues that has been plaguing Minecraft since Village and Pillage is the ability to purchase enchanted diamond armor and tools from Villagers. Before 1.14, diamond gear was hard to get, requiring the player to go into the mines and work for. But now, with the new villager system, it’s just too easy to get. Sure it’s time consuming, but after selling a bunch of sticks, you have practically infinite diamond gear. It would be fine if you were stuck with the enchantments the villager gave you, but with the grindstone, you can just disenchant the problem away and apply your own enchantments. Diamonds has simply lost its value and it has become too easy to get gear without ever mining. So here’s how I propose to somewhat fix it.
Diamond tools and armor sold by Villagers should have a curse on them, a new curse I call the Curse of Unenchanting. This curse would prevent the player from enchanting it or combining it with enchanted items, forcing them to keep the enchantments that came with the purchased item. And since it’s a curse, it couldn’t be removed by a grindstone. I think this would be a great addition to villagers and would make players think twice before purchasing a piece of armor from a villager.
