Let's face it, the sky in Minecraft is boring. This change might make it a bit more varied.
Three celestial events can happen.
- Blazing Sun
- Blue Moon
- Eclipse
Blazing Sun:
Occurs every 15 in-game days at noon. During this event, burning does more damage than usual. Rain, Snow, and Storms may not happen during this event. Snow and ice don't melt naturally in snowy biomes. Leaf decay, crop growth, and fire spread are faster.
Blue Moon:
Occurs every 4 full moons (24 nights). It makes the moon blue, drastically decreasing mob spawns but increasing slime spawns, slime drops, and phantom drops.
Eclipse:
Occurs on day 5, then every 20 days after that. Once sunrise has ended, the moon will rise and go twice as fast as normal. It will then align with the sun at exactly noon for 2 minutes causing an Eclipse. During this event, the sun and moon will align causing the texture of the two celestial bodies to combine creating a glowing black orb. The sky will darken as if there is a Storm. Looking straight up with a spyglass gives you the Glare effect. It brightens your screen to white for 15 seconds. Glare with Darkness or Blindness will give the effect a black vignette. The moon then goes half its normal speed and the sun goes twice as fast.
You can toggle these with the gamerule command [Celestial Events]:
- doBlazingSun
- doBlueMoon
- doEclipse
You can also keep them but toggle the effects.
- doExtraBurning
- doSunBonus
- doExtraSpread
- doMoonSpawn
- doMoonDrops
You can adjust the Glare effect in Accessibility Settings.
