It would be perfect considering they added the mangrove biome the number 1 most fitting perfect biome for a crocodile to be in anyways the mangrove doesn’t have much other than the frog. Not just that the crocodile could go in different biome such as the swamp’ large rivers in the jungle and large rivers in the desert and could have regional color and size variants with the ones spawning in the mangroves the largest and dark colored and the desert second largest and lighter. Its perfect for minecraft with the mangroves added

This would make swamps, mangroves and maybe jungles and desserts? A lot more interesting and dangerous as it would keep players on their toes during daytime as well as night time. Perhaps crocodiles could be hostile and if slain could drop scales which could be used to craft armour or maybe used in potions and maybe even teeth which could be used in crafting weapons or tools or etc. However, I know Mojang and Microsoft don’t like adding endangered animals that drop loot to the game so perhaps they could be passive. Although in my opinion this doesn’t really fit our perception of them so maybe a mob that looks and acts similarly to crocodiles could be added with a sort of “mythical spin” that separates them from regular crocodiles. You could have different varieties like saltwater crocodiles in dessert rivers and maybe oasis’s if they could also be added to the game you could also have a size range that includes dwarf caimans going all the way up to the giant crocodiles found in the nile and Australia etc. you could also possibly add alligators as a further example of bio-diversity.

To add onto this- they could be neutral mobs. Or, hostile mobs, but they don't seek out the player. They stay in one spot (near the water or in it) and will snap at the player if interacted with, but not actively hostile. Maybe they could feed on turtles and any mobs that get too close. Could be a good way to farm mob loot, although the crocodiles themselves wouldn't drop much other than EXP. Might be hard to kill, too, just to discourage players from messing with them.
