Mailman Villager

This villager will have the ability to be paid, in emeralds, to ship your items back and forth between players, which will add a new mailbox "workstation" meant for only the mailman, much like the barrels are meant for the fisherman villagers, and have a similar capacity to a singular wooden chest. The villager will have around 5 slots, each slot will increase in cost (slot 1 = 1 emerald, slot 2 = 2 emeralds... slot 5 = 5 emeralds) and can be filled with up to a stack (64) of whatever item you wish to send (or you could send journals with messages written in them, enchanted books, etc.) If you're playing on a single player world, the mailman will be connected to two mailboxes that a player places down. The only difference between this game mechanic and an ender chest is it's an inexpensive and simple "mid-game" mechanic that would come before the player is able to get an ender chest, and it would take time for your items to arrive in your mailbox, rather than instantly. If you're playing on a realm/server with multiple people, you can pick which player you want the mailman to deliver to.
