Oceans to fit the new underground
Oceans may have felt massive and deep back in the day, but now, this is simple not the case. Oceans look like puddles compared to the underground added in 1.18, and I feel this is wasted potential after 1.13 proved the oceans could have value. The first change I think should be made is having three classes of depth, shallow, medium, and deep. The depth would be determined by how far away the closest land was, meaning that deep biomes would be quite rare. This would be an excellent time to remove the very small islands in the middle of the ocean, as they don't carry any value and would eat up space that would be used for a deep biome.
Shallow and medium biomes shouldn't be changed too much, however perhaps something like a kelp forest could be added, and kelp even made into something like a wood type, as there is a noticeable lack of green wood, kelp could be the green wood. Medium biomes should be the least interesting, except having boulders at the bottom like in the giant spruce forest. A deep biome could be a brine lake, as this is one of the most interesting biomes in real life and could add cool new blocks. Ocean Monuments could spawn all the way down there and be remade into something important. They should maintain their maze-like structure, and have loot much like a bastion remnant, only ocean themed. This would add a valuable experience to the mid and late game, which seems to have fallen out of favor, what with the early game being so fleshed out today.
