Instead of just reducing the visibility of the enchantment glint, consider changing the color of the enchantment glint to the hue of the trim if a trim exists. That way it wouldn’t conflict with the color of the glint.

First and foremost: HECK YEAH!! I LOVE THIS!! THANK YOU!!

    Things I like:

    • A new way to spend diamonds! (we need more of these)
    • A reason to explore more! (we need more of these too)
    • Heck yeah! customizability!

    Things I want:

    • Tool/weapon/elytra trims!
    • Better design variety. (too many simple horizontal lines)

    Issues that need fixing:

         1. The darker parts of the trim are far too dark. It creates a very muddy and ugly looking effect on some of the colors, especially on gold.

I get it's supposed to look like specular highlight differences, but it just comes across as gross tarnishing instead.

The ribs template is by far the worst offender in this regard. It makes gold look like mud.

An example to look at: Trying to put gold trim on iron armor is just too ugly looking on most templates because of the darkness and muddiness of the darker parts of the trim.

    Definitely something that needs fixing.

         2. The smithing table's armor preview isn't lit well. It should be lit from the front and sides, instead of from the top, so that it's easier to see what the designs will actually look like when fully lit. Currently it's difficult to see what the trim looks like in the smithing table.

         3. Advanced tooltips get too big when hovering over templates. It's a result of the item ID's being gigantic. I don't want to turn off advanced tooltips because I look at durability too much, but I also want to be able to see my screen. Not sure what the best solution to this is, but it is a problem.

    THANKS!! <3

I think that addons makers/map makers should have possibility to apply any color of trim with command or NBT-tag.

It would be great if we could apply templates and colors to the armor placed on armor stands, it would be much easier to see and use than the Smithing Table. But I guess this would work better if they weren't so expensive.

Maybe a exclusive trim from a master level armor smith villager? In a similar fashion there is the globe pattern for banners from master level cartographers.

Honestly i have been waiting for something like this for ages. It would be nice if this could be applied to Elytra for special designs. I did notice a couple of the designs dont look the best. Also the diamond trim needs darkened a little, i can’t use it with my iron armor without it looking odd because it’s too light. Another idea would be to have different trims give different effects, like diamond adds durability or gold adds enchantability or amethyst gives off light (basically server-side dynamic lighting)

Copying is too expensive if you ask me.There should be something like "mold" item craftable with clay or maybe mud that will raplace diamonds in crafting recipe

I like the idea of customizing armor to make it look cooler, but I don't think you should need a netherite armor upgrade template to get netherite gear because it makes obtaining netherite gear a little bit too hard.

I think a better way of making obtaining netherite a more significant achievement would be to increase the amount of netherite ingots needed to upgrade in the smithing table to something like 2 or 3 depending on the armor piece or tool. I think netherite is already hard enough to obtain.

I still do like the idea of adding armor trims. It brings a lot more options for customizing the character in the game.

    I have 2 feedback items:
1- Having a Template for the base upgrade of Diamond to Netherite is disincentivizing. Netherite is already extremely tedious to obtain, and offers little benefit over Diamond armor. It can still be easily lost in a dual explosion, etc all for minimal durability gain (no extra enchantments, etc). Obtaining multiples of Diamond armor is relatively trivial. So, this takes an already tedious and minimally rewarding task and makes it even harder for no benefit other than being an additional hurdle to cosmetics.

2- The templates cost too much. Diamonds and Netherite can be EXTREMELY difficult to obtain on some servers. It's less of an issue in single player or small shared servers, but on larger very mined out servers it's not easy to obtain at all. This also applies to dropped templates on non-respawnable mobs like Elder Guardians or chests. Either the Template needs to be reusable, or the diamond counts need lowering to one.

Applying a different material to armor already with a pattern shouldn't require another pattern

I think smithing template  should be infinitely usable.Because that's just decorations

I would absolutely LOVE to be able to add pink trim to my armour. Pink goes so well with the shade of dark gray that the netherite armour is, and it would looks so nice. As for the material, I'm not sure what could be used. Possibly some stage of amethyst crystal? Heck even the end crystal lol. Personally my favourite idea is making crying obsidian give purple, and amethyst give pink!

    I love the trims. But

    1. I hate the Netherite template. I vote to get rid of it completely. Netherite upgrade is way to expensive. I hate needing a template for netherite upgrades. It's like turning a tool type into a finite resource. I know you can copy the templates but its outrageously expensive to need 7 additional diamonds per upgrade. Netherite is not even that much better to be worth that much extra work. Netherite is perfect the way it is right now in 1.19.

    2. It's too expensive to copy templates. Most players wont have much access to these at current costs. I like the idea of rare ones but its too much to copy right now. It doesn't even make sense to use a ton of diamonds

    3. With items that can only be found from excessive exploring you have to be careful. It makes them finite resources or pseudo finite. Which is hard to accept if they are deemed very useful or important to gameplay. Also wastes a lot of generated chunks searching for them. Tool/armor types/materials should never be finite or pseudo finite. I still have an issue with elytra being essentially finite. I think its better to make items like that renewable, but difficult renewable, like boss fight rewards like the beacons. Or rare drops from non boss mobs

This would be a great opportunity to merge Elytra with chestplates!

Now that it is more expensive to get netherite gear, it would be a good opportunity to make tools more efficient, and able to instamine harder blocks

The Black Trimming should be made of coal. I just think adding Netherite on top of previous armor doesn't make sense.

Glowstone should also be trimmed onto the armor to give small lighting.

Make the "Tide" armor trim easier to obtain please.

To my knowledge, the Tide armor trim is a rare drop from the Elder Guardian, which is a problem in two ways:

    1) It's a rare drop from a finite mob

    2) It's a rare drop from a powerful monster

Compared to literally every other armor trim, Tide is a rare drop from a mob, a rare mob nonetheless.

As a solution, I have two ideas:
    1) Make the Elder Guardian renewable; create some type of method to respawn it, whether that be natural respawning, or some type of way to resummon it (ex. killing a certain amount of Guardians to anger the monument, and hence respawning the three Elder Guardians).

    2) Make the Tide armor trim a rare drop from Buried Treasure instead. Buried treasure already contains Prismarine, alongside other aquatic items, so it could make sense to find the "Tide" armor trim inside of it. Plus, it would also match with all of the other armor trims; being found in a chest.

I think the iron, gold and copper trims should use the raw ore instead of ingots. Minor thing, but seems like the idea here is to encourage exploration, so making it things that can’t be farmed and have to be found in world generation would be aligned.

I like that Netherite armour is harder to obtain, however coping armour trim templates should be cheaper as they are purely cosmetic.

They are a lovely change, I believe armor trims reward players for exploring the world and add value to many structures, though I feel that for rare structures such as jungle temples, trims should be almost guaranteed, as they are already pretty challenging to find.

Using diamonds for its crafting finally gives them use for the late game, though I'm a player that tends do use villagers a lot, and rarely have the need to mine frequently, so I don't think I represent the majority here. I think it's ok to use diamonds to duplicate them, but perhaps slightly reducing the diamond cost on the crafting could be nice.

Besides that, not much to say besides congratulating the team for your hard work and this wonderful feature. Oh, and I'd love to see some customizations for tools and weapons (and Elytras!) too, the 1.20 update is looking great so far :)

I feel the templates should be a bit more common, even doing a /loot command It takes me a few tries to get it.
Also the echo shard could be used to give armor a dark blue or sculk-like trim

If we are going into trimming, elytra could use trimming too, since it usually replaces torso armor, to keep it with a theme

If we could have this for tools, weapons, and horse armor, this would be 10x better. Allow gold trimming to not alert piglins and maybe add actual gameplay differences like more defense

I think some trim textures could be remade, some looks too similar in some parts of the armor, like helmets and boots.
For the trim duplication I don't like the idea of using 7 diamonds for an item that just change the appearance of the armor. Too expensive for something that should be used by everyone to express.
    Imagine this on servers.
