Amethyst Geodes have become a staple of the Minecraft world, with many applications. However, other than as a decoration, this seems to be where the functionality ends. However, it could be quite beneficial to the game if shards were considered a new type of mineral, in addition to ores, including several gemstones including but not limited to amethyst, sapphire, opal, and ruby shards, with echo shards becoming somewhat the equivalent of netherite as a late-game item. Sapphire geodes would follow the same pattern as amethyst geodes, but would generate deeper, smaller, and less common. Opal shards would do the same but to a greater extent. ruby shards could be found in the nether being formed by the pressure under basalt deltas, adding an additional motive to explore these biomes. These shards could be used to make spyglasses of various strengths. In addition, they could be used with a smithing table to apply certain affects to armor, ei. speed, added defense, as well as being able to sharpen arrows when combined with arrows on a fletching table. Ruby could be used instead of flint in a flint/steel recipe with half the durability, but the ability to form various earthen materials into Nether items after a period of burning, coal to quartz, and gold to nether gold. One could craft them into the respective dust, which when applied to a mundane potion, (or thick for ruby), created a potion allowing for various levels of haste.
