Assuming the archaeology brush gets added, a secondary use could be to polish certain placed blocks. This would cause the block in question to emit particles that make it look like it's "twinkling" or "sparkling". The effect would be lost if the block is mined.
The effect would likely only be applicable to a list of block types, such as most metallic blocks (diamond/gold/emerald etc), any other block types that could believably be polished to a shine (amethyst blocks/clusters, nether quartz, glass, lapis), and perhaps even armor placed on armor stands, as well as any other feasible examples. The effect could even be slightly different depending on the block in question.
It would give the brush a small, niche use outside the primary. It gives a unique new way to add a touch of decoration. Make your treasure vault glitter or draw attention toward a display (so far players seem to really enjoy being able to utilize new particle effects on their own terms to bring some spice to their builds, such as campfires in chimneys or spore blossoms in a forest/greenhouse). It could also have some use in adventure maps, such as drawing the player's eye toward a hint or maybe a red herring that leads to a trap.
