Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

    this times 1000! having custom blocks added, even if they only at the moment can only be used for decoration would make life so much easier for people trying to add custom blocks for vanilla players that either don't want to or can't install mods

    I think a simple way Mojang could do this is just by adding a block with a whole bunch of block states so that you can mix and match the block states and give each one different textures. Right now people do that with note blocks but players change those by right-clicking them, which is a problem. 
    It would also be nice if one of the block states (or components) was what the block is best mined with, but if that's complicated I'm sure people would be okay with that coming later or being split up into a few different blocks with the same block state concept

    It would also be good if we could add textures with resource packs and in these datapacks we could add new NBT tags and new block states.
