Overview
This structure would include several features that deserve their own pages. Follow the links for more information on those items.
Ruined cities would be naturally generating structures found in the overworld. As their name implies, they would be large, ruined remains of a city. While they would bear some resemblance to the Ancient city, there would be a number of important differences:
- These would be found above ground instead of at the bottom of the world.
- While they are meant to provide a challenge, they are nowhere near as dangerous.
The reason I think these would be good additions to the overworld is that the overworld only includes two structures (on the surface) that spawn mobs to protect it: pillager outposts and mansions. The other structures, such as jungle temples may have a random mob or two, but they don't have dedicated defenders like nether fortresses, bastions, end cities, etc.
Mobs
While zombies, skeletons, and spiders would spawn inside, the main mob in this structure would be the sentinel (Sentinels – Minecraft Feedback).
Loot
Ruined cities would contain fairly generic loot, similar to other structures. They would also include unique loot called ancient gear (Ancient Gear – Minecraft Feedback).
Interior
The interior would be a large complex of rooms, including maze-like libraries with secret passages (using the upcoming chiseled bookshelf). Other rooms could include a throne room, a dining hall, and more. Outside, there would be courtyards filled with rubble.
