Minecraft is a pretty chill game, and the worlds feel pretty alive too...but, only at first sight: it "feels" alive because we have forest, animals, monsters, villagers and some interaction between mobs...but if the player stands in a biome for a couple of hours, and comes back, it won't change: at most, some areas might be on fire because of a nearby lava pool or some drops beacuse some mobs died, but nothing else
Adding some layer of events out of player control will make the world feel more alive, not a static sheet
Here I propose a few that might suit the game
Rain blooming
After raining or a storm, on any grass or moss blocks exposed to the sky, there is a chance of growing grass; any grass or fern exposed to the sky has a chance of growing into tall grass or large fern
Mushroom growths
After raining or a storm, mushrooms have a chance of propagating, regardless of other mushrooms in the area
Propagating moss
When a cobblestone or stone brick is covered in by vines or is adjacent to a moss block, there is a chance that it might turn into mossy cobblestone or stone brick
The process can be reverted by placing mossy cobblestone/ stone bricks onto Dripstone
Brick cracking
After some time in arid biomes, stone bricks and deepslate bricks and tiles have a chance of cracking;
This process can be reverted by using light concrete powder on stone bricks and dark grey concrete powder on deepslate
