Chinese Paper Lanterns (1.20)

To fit with the theme of diversity and storytelling, why not add traditional Chinese lanterns to add a different and festive flavour to lighting. The basic crafting recipe would be a torch surround by 7 paper and 1 type of dye. The dye would determine what colour and shape the lantern takes. E.g. a red lantern would be round whilst a blue one might be more rectangular. Paper lanterns could be hanged from the bottom of blocks but not from the side. In addition when placed on the ground the lantern could float a certain number of blocks into the air, spinning around slowly. The player could also stand on the lantern, making for interesting parkour. In conclusion, having Chinese Paper Lanterns would give lot of opportunity for builds, parkour and storytelling.

    la verdad esque no me gusta mucho la idea sorry, minecraft redondo...

    no se yo, y flotar con papel... que minecraft no tenga logica no significa que flotes sorry

    Pero es una buena idea como mod, esa es mi opinion aver que le parece a la gente :)

    As much as I like this idea, it sounds like a pretty hard one to pull off. For the light to float and spin, it will have to be an entity, and to be honest, the game is pretty laggy as is. Coloured lighting is also very unlikely to be added to the game, as it would require an entire rewrite of the lighting engine. Chinese lanterns are notorious for being fire hazards, which might be too "dangerous" for Minecraft and the image the Mojang team are trying to create for the game.

    I still like the idea a lot, and I think a simpler version could work. If this ever gets added into the game, I hope they remember these lanterns usually have a bamboo frame.

    Em …First,I am a Chinese player and I think if Mojang added the lanterns in the game,it will be a very nice things to use.(Maybe all the Chinese player will like it)

    My grammar and vocabulary maybe have some problems.hahaha

    Sinceramente pienso que minacraft tiene un problema muy grande de rendimiento y agregar linternas que giran y que puedan mover bloque creo que será difícil además si los bloques de arriba giran también se convertirían en entidad y daría mucho lag.

    Awesome ! Bringing a bit of that Taiwan Lantern Festival event. Coupled with the frog lanterns you could make some really pretty builds

    This would be an amazing addition to the game! It would go well with the hangable lanterns we have now which already look great when we place them in trees, so being able to have more culturally themed ways to decorate our builds would satisfy the players who love exploring world design, like temple architecture.

    Can you many add more coulors from grass? Like (blue,pink,red,black,or more?) And New Ingots and materials or New armor?
