Would be appreciated if the preview functionality could be added back in some form (e.g. how the 1.19.2 "Chat Preview: While Sending" option worked). I understand that sending the full input text while typing has certain privacy/security implications but sending the text when the user actually presses enter would work around it. This would allow servers to still modify chat in a transparent way and for players to acknowledge (and even sign) modified messages and know the server wont be able to change what they said. The way it is implemented now completely removes this trust between the player and the server.

One could say that because the modified marker and the original text will still show when hovered this wont be as big of an issue but I feel like many people will only read the text and already judge what was said without hovering over (potentially every) message to see what was modified. And even if they do, the damage to the reputation of the player might already be done (e.g. a ban by a too hasty mod or just a "friends" group). Re-adding the preview in a toned down way would help there (and the players that don't want the two enter presses for the preview acknowledgement and just want to trust the server could just disable it in the options)

I think that the creative inventory order should be consistently worked on but more than anything comprehensive survey and feedback sought from builders: it's a hard thing to get right

About the change for more minor versions:

This might reduce hype for the update and make the update harder to find, or may cause confusion, as calling it 1.19.3 sounds like it would be a tweak to 1.19. New minor versions for new updates should be called 1.xx Release (#). (In this case, 1.20 Release 1.)

Bamboo feedback: the texture seems a little unpolished, in my opinion. The texture is the main part it stands out from, say, birch wood. Camels: should spawn in deserts, savannas, and mesas at a low chance. Should pause randomly near water to gulp down water (maybe for ~30 seconds, should have a cool down of 10 minutes).

give us back the old creative inventory, this one makes me cry

okay here is my feedback, if i dont' mention something it's cause its perfect:

    - the bamboo wood type texture looks pretty bland, its outline isnt super defined wich makes it look out off place especially when used on its own, and there is no variation at all in the texture, from what i checked online (and saw irl) stacks of dried bamboo are very diverce in texture (some peaces of bamboo are a bit darker/brownish, some are a bit redish, etc..) but the texture rn is very uniform; am comparing this to tilled deepslate which has suttle but very nice variants in dark-grey colors, having those suttle variants would make the bamboo wood set look much better eather on its own or with other blocks

Edit: after some consideration/analysing of the texture, what makes it awkward to use isnt the lack of outline or variation, instead its the very bright yellow (and its slight green tint) wich is very hard to blend with anything else in the game

    - am surprised we didnt have a haybell style block for the bamboo family, i think having a rotational bamboo "log" or "stack" or wathever with a top/bottom texture showing the holes of the cut bamboo (and maybe a green rope holding the stack together like on the raft texture) would look very very nice

    - and finally, the leap animation of the camel looks a bit janky, especialy the legs part, i think it needs reworking, or just working in general

and Voila ! that was my feedback, hope it was usefull and maybe even taken into consideration ;)

I think we should be able to craft torches with bamboo

Made a lengthy comment on the thread but to add one thing:

OK I typed out the below without realizing this is an issue with riding mobs. Still think it needs to be fixed. I think if a mob is ridden (camels, llamas, horses), it should be effected by slow falling (I imagine it may be for balance instead of a bug since spider jockeys are unaffected, but I want slow falling camel yeet for funny mountain descents).

Camels with slow falling should still descend slowly. Would be a great niche use for their jumps and could make for fun extreme camel parkour. Its not too OP and can make for a subpar but funny early game elytra (as it requires you start from a high place and is much much slower with less maneuverability while also requiring brewing potions).

The camels rise their neck too much when looking at entities and it's mostly noticeable when they look at the player, probably because the eyes position doesn't line up with the actual head of the camel, we can see that by showing headboxes in game.

I think we should get to dress the camels in fabric like the llamas since we didn't get the Tuff Golems :)

It would be cool if we could make torches with bamboo but they're two blocks tall when placed down and take two bamboo sticks in a workbench to craft. It would be cool aesthetically to have normal ones and soulfire ones, but also if they shone further than normal torches since they're elevated. Maybe only make it possible to place them on the ground as well.

I'm concerned about this next update. It's very underwhelming, even if we've only been shown part of it. While I love these decorative non-full blocks like hanging signs, the devs seem like they're only interested in satisfying intrinsically-motivated players, judging from Minecraft Live.

I like to build, but building is NOT the main reason why me & my friends buy Minecraft. It's the survival mode that we like. We build bases to protect ourselves, we like to adventure & fight mobs to get loot that is useful for survival. Many players are extrinsically motivated, and if mobs like glow squid, goats & frogs only give decor items as rewards, then they won't bother. It's a consistent problem lately, and now sniffer is (yet again) giving only decor items without any survival use. I love these ancient plants, but we NEED to have both aesthetics & function.

Minecraft was dying on 1.12, but it became popular again after 1.13, 1.14, and 1.16, because there's actually more than just building. We have tridents & netherite, which are useful items for survival, and we have more adventure & combat. I want a game, not just a 3D building app. Many Minecraft mods like the Aether, and Minecraft-inspired games like Terraria & Hytale understand this. It's not just aesthetics & gimmicks, it's tangible rewards. Maybe Minecraft isn't for me, but there's no alternatives at the moment. Minecraft on mobile/console lack Java mods, Terraria is unfortunately 2D, and Hytale isn't coming out soon.

Very good snapshot, I like the new 1.20 items! And I like the new creative inventory, the old one was a complete mess. But can you please re-add the Petrified oak slab back to the creative inventory?

Chiseled Bookshelves should have its own UI so you wont have to waste time filling your inventory with the books you put in to find the book you want only to waste more time putting them all back.

I would like that if you want to take the second book from the shelf, then you pointed the mouse at it and right-clicked the mouse and it gave out the second book instead of the sixth

The updated creative inventory is honestly a lot harder to use due to some of the changes, most of the changes are pretty good, such as functional blocks being their own category.

The main issue is the split between building blocks and nature blocks.

It used to be that blocks were categorised by functionality, with solid blocks and non-solid blocks being separate, which made perfect sense, and made it much easier to find what block you're after. Every other category still follows this system, such as crafting materials being their own category.

With the new inventory however, blocks such as planks, carpets, fences, and doors are all put together in a single category, despite these being completely different in terms of functionality.

All this does is make the inventory confusing to navigate, and just makes building more annoying.

A much simpler solution would be to instead split the categories between solid blocks, non-solid blocks, and functional blocks, which would make the inventory much more intuitive to use, as all the categories would be consistent that way.

-I'm not hyped on minecraft live and this next update, there's nothing in it that really excites me, but I guess that's the point...? Is it a good idea to do that immediately after all the recent bad stuff like chat report?

-And this tactic doesn't lower player expectations... now online comments are actually coping and hoping that there will be much more to this update. But something tells me this is already 50% of the update, and it's gonna be a small bland update where there's just one more animal and block, without anything really exciting.

-I'm not interested in this update theme of expressing yourself with signs and bookshelves.... I feel like it's useless, especially since I play alone. I want something more like the nether update, where there's more loot, exploration and fights.
