It would be very nice if the text displayed in both sides of the sign

The mod Supplementaries has several features to their hanging signs that these could also profit from:

    • Displaying Items or Maps
    • Visually extending to attach to the side of fences and walls
    • Swingin' when an entity collides with them

It could be great if we could write on *both* sides of the hanging signs

Adding new sign things might be a good time to also maybe implement being able to edit the text on a sign without breaking it. This could also play into writing on both sides of the sign if you just edit it from the other side.

Possibly could be done by using a charcoal or ink sac on the sign to "write" new text on it.

Signs should be able to be used as item frames to hold maps or to hold items to serve as symbols.
If I have a fish shop, right clicking a raw cod onto a sign should allow it to be held in place similar to an item frame.
Maps should also work the same way as well.

I really like the hanging signs right now, but I do wish that they didn't use a different main material from regular signs. It'd be nice if they had plank versions, and/or if stripped versions of the regular signs existed.

I think there needs to be more than 8 characters per line for the signs, so the font size smaller, or possibly make it scale based on the longest line of the sign, since only 8 characters per line compared to the regular signs 15 characters is rather disappointing. Maybe also they could have the text appear on both sides, or even separate text for each side. The signs look great visually though.

Hanging signs should have gravity. If the block it is attached to is broken, it should fall down, but not cause any damage to entries under it, unlike sand and dripstone.

I wish I could place items in these hanging signs like Item Frames, and make medieval-style store labels.

they should mimic the normal signs. the normal signs are 15 charters in one row compared to the 8 hanging signs have. I think it would be a good idea to at least make it so that the hanging signs have at least 10 if not all 15 charters in a row that way they are more similar to the normal sign.

You should add the ability to stack these signs under each other while crouching, like regular signs!

Items would be great so the game includes nice labeling for illiterate players as well

Although it would take the 'sign' out of 'hanging sign', the ability to remove the sign itself and just leave the pole would allow for some potentially interesting builds

Currently, hanging signs look pretty good, and by far, my favorite feature is the model switch for fences vs. full blocks(where chains combine). However, there are several things I've noticed about hanging signs that could be improved.

    1. Hanging signs do not give the "Glow and Behold!" advancement

    2. Hanging signs can barely fit any text(this may be purposeful, but it makes regular signs more functional

    3. In general, I think hanging signs would look better if they did not use chains. Also by using a cheaper block, it would make it feasible to use them in survival(as iron chains are far more expensive to craft than a stick for a regular sign).

All in all, the hanging sign seems like a good way to change up the old idea of signs in Minecraft

You need at least two characters more per line.

I like it, but I find a issue and I have a proposal. The issu is that the characters are to big, and the amount of characteros per line is small, I think if you reduce the font-size we can have more amount of characters. My proposal is a unlike the sings, in this ones we can writte behind of them, and I think is the oportunity to add the option to edit this new sings and the other ones. Thank you for your wotk, Cheers up!!

It would be nice if you could place them on the ground facing up. In creative I usually see things from above and a sign like that would be very useful. Also, they would look great as a cutting board :P

Hi, I just wanted to let you guys know that acacia hanging signs do not exist in the experimental features of the snapshot. At least, they are not showing up in my world as an option. I play Java on a macOS system. Is this intentional, or is it just an error?

These are excellent decor blocks that can be used for various things, I love partial non-full blocks! Though, being able to stick items into them like an item frame would be nice.

Chains are very expensive for players who don't have iron golem farms, though. I recommend that the chain crafting recipe gives more chains, as it's very difficult to make them in survival in large amounts (unless you farm golems).

The crafting recipe for Hanging Signs is too expensive.

Six hanging signs cost six stripped logs, which is the equivalent of 24 planks. This works out as a cost of 4 planks per hanging sign, which is twice as expensive as the 2 planks per normal sign. This is also inconsistant with the Bamboo Hanging Signs, which cost 3 planks per hanging sign.

    Absolutly fantastic feature!

Hope these signs can animate swinging in the wind like Banners. Just very slightly.
I miss movement in the world like leaves on a tree and this would make these hanging signs so much much better.

I also like its using the stripped wood of every color.

It's a small thing, but I'd LOVE if you could right click a hanging sign and it plays a little animation of it swinging back and forth. It'd be a really nice little interaction, just being able to bop a sign as you walk past :)

Hanging Item Frames & Hanging Glow Frames. Features double sided frames, and the hanging signs should feature double sided text, balancing the "less text than normal signs" feature if the less text was on purpose and/or will not be changed.

Edit: An older comment (currently 40 votes) has the double side text feature.

Hanging signs should really be as wide as regular signs to 1) fit more characters per line on them and 2) allow multiple hanging signs placed in a row to look like one long contiguous billboard

Ability to edit what you wrote (for normal signs too)

These are great for Decoration but, maybe add more room to write? And If two Hanging Signs are next to each other they should connect!  This is just my idea!

The signs are AWESOME to use as fences...the lower portion of the sign however allows baby cows etc to pass through.

Need to be able to write on both sides of sign as in signs outside of a storefront.

It's kinda funky that two of the hanging sign variants use a 3d model for the chains, and one uses a flat 2d texture. I think either all hanging signs should use 3d chains, or all hanging signs should use 2d chains.

Just make them a little bit bigger, that’s my request :)

A way to make texts bigger/smaller would be nice, whether it's a hanging sign or a normal sign.
Here are possible ways I thought of:

    1. When right-clicking with an axe on a sign it would make the text bigger/smaller.
    2. Or using an item like Ink Sac (It's already used to undo the glowing effect but I'm not sure what else to choose).
    3. Or maybe make it so the text is always big but when you type more it will slowly get smaller and smaller.
