Why do we love Minecraft? Is it the freedom to hand-craft and explore our worlds? Well, yes, but it's also due to the fantasy in our worlds. Be it mythical dimensions or monsters, these fantastic worlds and power to do things we can't in real life is also what makes Minecraft great. I believe magic in Minecraft add to the fantasy and really strengthen the game.
Magic, in minecraft, will work through "Tomes" which the player must travel the world to collect. Found in the pre-existing structures of Minecraft, these ancient tomes will provide amazing powers and will be a challenge to collect while breathing new life and purpose into the world.
Finding these will not be enough however, as the "ancient scepter", a rare drop from an illusioner found in a "forgotten ruin" which will be activated with a tome to perform magic.
How some Tomes will work is up to the developers, but an outline would be:
• Water tome: Found in ocean monuments, it lets players place water infinitely
•Fire tome: Found in the nether, it lets players shoot fireballs like a ghast
•Wind tome: Traded for a high price, it allows the player to push mobs
•Earth tome: Found caving, it allows the player to capture and place a 3x3x3 blocks
•Tome of the End: Coming from the end, it allows a player to teleport back to where it was activated
Thank you for reading! I hope you have understood why this idea would fit within the game and agree with the fact that it's not a bad thing to lean into the fantasy of our blocky world.
