archaic vehicle system/boats

i believe that Minecraft should add more transportation methods in game. boats and animal mounts are a start but i think you guys should go a step further. for starters i believe wood should be given the unique ability to float when suspended in water and sink slowly when to many of the same block is placed on top of it. in doing this wood will be made the primary boat and chariot building material. after the first suspended wood block is placed on water the player should from there be able to create a floating structure and from there adding rudders, sails, dispensers, etc... this in my opinion would explain shipwrecks in the best way possible allowing custom boats to be made. the lag as a result of adding wood water physics will most likely be traitorous but if you guys could figure this out i would be impressed. it would also be cool if somehow horse carriages could be made useing this feature but the how is beyond me.
