I’ve been there, and I’m sure many people have: We update our game, but guess what? That one friend that has a server we really enjoy hasn’t updated yet. Sometimes it can be days or weeks before they check their messages, and we’re left not updating our games or not playing the server. It can sometimes be a source of friction that you log off to go to bed and the next day, you’re playing the waiting game. How could we fix this? Backwards compatibility is the answer! Specifically, we get the version from the server, and when the client version is different, rather than not allowing the client in, we show a popup “This server is on an older version () that does not contain the latest patches and safety features. You may join this server at your own risk.” I understand if this system may be too complicated to code in. Also, if it’s an outdated client, we would not allow them to join. Even if this does not happen, I wanted to submit a possible fix to this friction. Thank you for your time!
