Phantoms always out speeding you I can bare. The annoying accuracy of skeletons? I can bare. Vexes peeking out of walls and killing you because they have insanely high damage per hit given their size and abilities? Whatever. Random 1 block lava pits that you run into while mining in the nether and can kill you within seconds before your brain has even processed what happened and now your tunnel is completely flooded and the best you can hope for is to die after all the lava has cleared out so you don't lose everything you have? That, I can not bare. Lava pits are random and unpredictable, and especially early on when you are trying to get your footing and building up your gear they are awful! You take an insane amount of damage from lava, especially early on when you still have to use iron armor primarily. They come out of nowhere and you get harshly punished for something you can't predict and often can't react fast enough to due to how incredibly fast the lava flows into your tunnel. You are punished for something you can't predict. You are punished because you didn't have the reaction speed of the flash on a sugar high to block the lava. It is genuinely unfair in most cases when you die.
TL;DR Lava pits punish you for something you can't predict, and are generally an annoying addition to the game that adds unnecessary frustration and stress. (Note: I am mainly talking about those random stupid 1 block lava pits that are scattered around the Nether.)
