Mob spawners used to be a highly sought after thing in the game... as they were a great way to get XP and drops in the mid game, and even nice to have in the late game if you had 2 or 3 close enough to each other... but now with how far the game has advanced with items, mending, more ways to get XP, more ways to get these drops... mob spawners are really just an annoyance we light up, loot the dungeon, and move on from...
To make mob spawners useful again, but to also balance this use, I suggest they be movable via pistons. For mob spawners that are fairly close to each other... this would make spawners that are otherwise useless because you can't activate them all at once actually become useful... while mob spawners that are far apart... with a lot of work of clearing a lot of area in-between... and manually moving via piston, or creating flying machines... one could combine numerous mob spawners of different or similar types together to make a farm that is as efficient as, but different than, more typically used mob farms.
My suggestions would be to not allow them to be moved via any other method, such as silk touch, as this would make creating large mob spawner rooms incredibly easy to do... throwing off the work/reward balance that only piston pushing would create.
