I do see critical issues with them, I don’t like them, they are uncomfortable, how do I take them out.

block breaking is slower and worse in creative and survival, it used to be more fluid and faster, the previous version of the controls worked better.

stack splitting doses not feel intuitive, can’t even understand it.

The video dose not help understand, it confuses you and makes you click the one you thought was just like the one you had, and once you click it, it is impossible to find the way back in the instructions without messing up your whole game set up.

Drag and drop should have a batter way of explaining it, I don’t understand it.

swimming used to be way easier before, walking, jumping running and flying in creative and with wings is even harder now with the new controls.

it’s also harder to drown under water.

swimming used to be more enjoyable overall.

as additional feedback I suggest that there is a way to remove the new touch control and for it to be easier to find, to use the drag and drop I suggest that instead of creating a whole new more complex method, just add it to the old one.

please take my advise friendly and use it.

I didn't like the swimming thing because you have to keep pressing jump to avoid sinking that takes away mobility when fighting with an enemy that floats in the water and fighting with them on mobile devices It's hard why do you sink while you attack while you enter you advance and that makes it very difficult

I suggested this in a post and I thought I’d put it here too:

“I don’t have much to say, but I feel like both the D-pad and joystick controls have something good and something to be desired. I feel like the joystick would be better if the buttons could be rearranged, like how Terraria has it. I really like the toggle sneak, however, and I wish it would be an option in the D-pad controls. I don’t really see why it isn’t, any information on that would be appreciated. Thank you.”

    Mobile Controls Onboarding Video

    • Does the video help you better understand the differences between the control schemes?  - I haven't seen the video and I can't find it to watch it, would probably make a lot of this easier to figure out.

    Touch Controls

    • How do the touch controls feel overall, and do you see any critical issues with them?  - Like them for the most part, took me forever to figure how to feed mobs in the interact mode without action buttons (they rarely show up).  Didn't notice the sword or place buttons in crosshair mode until I read some reviews.

    Block Breaking

    • ???  No idea what this references.

    Stack Splitting

    • Does stack splitting feel intuitive?  - I guess, maybe.  It's definitely harder to split off just a couple of items from a full stack.

    Drag and Drop

    • ???  No idea what this references.

    Swimming

    • Swimming is definitely better, but it is way too easy to switch to swimming in flowing water.

Overall it's definitely an improvement, now if I could just find that video...

Mobile UI/controls became much worse on 1.19.41. There's a new "double-tap to craft entire stack" feature which is terrible. I want to craft only a few pieces by tapping several times, but I often end up accidentally crafting my entire stack of items. Please revert this change. The old method of "hold to craft stack quickly" is much better. Or better yet, just add more buttons to "craft all" in the crafting UI.

Furnace UI became worse and less intuitive. For the first two material/fuel slots, you tap a coal in your inventory, then tap the fuel slot to put coal there. To take coal out, tap the fuel slot, and tap your inventory slot. That's normal. But on the results slot, this method no longer works, you need to quickly double tap the items to get it. Tapping once will insta-retrieve one item. Why make the results slot different? It's very unintuitive. You should also allow dragging to retrieve and put items, it's intuitive for mobile games to do so.

Old stack-splitting is better. Now, it's harder to initiate stack-splitting, and the green bar is more difficult to move. It tends to snap on half-split or 1-item split.

I wish I can show how problematic these mobile controls are in real-time, such as the (X) close-window button being inaccessible if you use "pocket" UI profile (0 GUI scale), because curved-corner phone models prevent these tiny (X) buttons from being pressed on corners. Or how d-pad would often stop moving.

As others have said, please remove double tapping to craft all stack. It's ruining mobile minecraft. I keep wasting all my items because I tap too fast. I just want to craft 5-6 times, but I can't do this properly and I have to wait for the double tap delay to craft safely.

The toggle sprint button should always be on, regardless on whatever tries to turn it off. The game should try again to put your character back into sprint, similar to how toggle sprint works on Java. EDIT: Noticed that it turns off after removing your finger from the joystick. I still think the toggle should stay on and immediately put you back into sprint.

I also feel like I should be able to pan the camera while holding down one of the action buttons. For example, tapping and holding the jump button and moving it around to be able to look around while jumping. I know this is sort of implemented for the interact/place block button.

Finally, I feel like we should be able to customize the buttons on the screen to better fit different devices and hand/finger sizes. My hands are quite large, so the controls are a little too close to the edges of my device for my liking, however I can imagine this is optimal for those with smaller hand sizes

New touch controls on android do not make it clear how to use things like get in a boat, shear a sheep etc..

It seems really random. I stand right on top of a minecart and still no button appears, so I walk around and around looking at it and away from it and tapping on it but sill no button. I have to switch back to classic to get the button shot where I last had focus and it works every time.

I feel like there should be an option in settings that allows players to move around the location of the buttons on their screen, some screens are bigger than others and that might make the buttons be placed in awkward spots. (like mine)

You should be able to completely customize the control scheme. I find the current control scheme is very clunky, the buttons feel like they are in the wrong spots for me. Being able to change positioning of the buttons in game and maybe even adding buttons to do things like pick-block or resizing individual buttons would solve a lot of problems.

They suck. Personally i think movement controls are ok but the UI is god damn atrocious.

    1. Grabbing items from furnaces, smokers etc is now much more annoying. Back then you would select all the items available in the furnace and bring them into your inventory but now it does it one by one when you tap it which is a completely unnecessary and useless feature. Also it is impossible to refuel or place more items in the furnace after you have collected the item unless you close the menu which is a pain.

    2. Crafting is now more annoying. Back then you could just hold to craft quickly instead of tapping twice quickly (you have to be in your inventory menu as well to actually do this). Now if I want to craft say, 16 oak planks, back then i would just tap quickly four times but now i have to slowly tap 4 times as if i tapped any faster it would just craft a whole stack. Overall it’s just a lot slower and a lot more annoying.

    3. Grabbing items from the creative menu and disposing of them is far more difficult now. For one, putting items from the creative menu into your inventory is now impossible because the game doesn’t let you select an item from the menu and then putting it into your inventory anymore. Now you have to first clear a slot of your hotbar and then take the item. Why?

All of this could simply be resolved by just giving players the option to use the old UI gimmicks. This update was the most useless POS ever. It didn’t fix any of the issues with the old controls.

Delayed block breaking in creative mode makes the creative mode almost unplayable.

It makes building something considerably slower.

I think accidental block adds or breaks didn't decrease that much if any. But with this change, fixing mistake is much more time-consuming. So, overall it's more inconvinient than before.

Please undo this change or at least make it an option.

    Thanks..

    (I'm using android version)

I would like to get the d-pad and the crosshair again because that’s how I played it. Mojang is just clumping everyone in to a one size fits all controls.

There is a huge problem for me. When we are underwater, we can't crounch to use shield or crounch on a magma block. I died a lot of times just because of this. I hope this problem will be solved with another button for underwater. Like the old controls. There were two buttons for go up and down with normal crounch button. (I hope I explained well with my bad English .)

We need to be able to use the d-pad and split (crosshair) controls. Its SUPER awkward and I've even stopped playing because the new control scheme is awful. Too many buttons when tapping / holding sufficed perfectly well for years.

the rest of the changes are great, but the new block-breaking speed slows down my building significantly. I tend to make more mistakes placing blocks than breaking blocks, and with the new change, it makes it much more inconvenient to break blocks. I found that the old speed was fine.

As someone who has played the mobile version of Minecraft all my life, I loved the updated screen buttons. On the other hand, I feel that it came out very incomplete. Player still can't quickly change camera, can't pick up blocks quickly in creative, still can't switch between attacking and placing blocks, in the D-pad version, you still need to double-click to crouch. Improve it soon please!!!

How do the touch controls feel overall, and do you see any critical issues with them?
Well, I love that you can finally have separate buttons for breaking and placing blocks, but I wish I could still have the d-pad for movement. It's more accurate and reliable most of the times.

Please make it possible to adjust the size and transparency of the buttons and the placement on the screen and (possibly redundant) and add buttons such as (Q, F5, scroll down, scroll up,) And the placement of buttons like inventory, chat, and all the active buttons on the screen (sorry for so many Claims)

Bring back the feature where you could sneak underwater, it makes it impossible to use shields or sneak in magma blocks now.

The New Touch controls are hard to use on phone and maybe in tablets too. I wish it can be customized like customized layout, it does'nt matter if it's a bit limited but maybe it could be cool and confortable coz my fingers need to be folded like a paper to control them. Pls mojang, we will appreciate it!
