Diamond Mine Shafts

We already have mine shafts that are located above deep slate, but why not below? A mineshaft past deep slate could introduce a whole new way of hunting down emeralds rather than the tedious task of strip mining. Along with this idea we could stronger mobs spawn in these mine shafts.
