My idea is to make more stuff configurable with datapacks, each will need a type and a configuration, similar to how recipes, worldgen/configured_features and worldgen/configured_carver works.
The thing I thought about are:
Block, Items, Fluids, Entity, Container, Potion Effect, Enchantment, Particle, Statistic, Trader Types (wandering trader and villager and more).
For example, blocks will have behaviors.
Block behavior could be: must be on block, grow with stages, grows upwards/downwards limited/unlimited, chest, click actions
The grow upwards/downwards behavior is in:
cactus, sugar cane, bamboo, twisting vines, weeping vines, kelp
but with different tweaks for the properties
I think this idea is good because it let much more possibilities
Minecraft will be similar to Modded Minecraft
The possibilities are endless:
- molten iron + water forms a iron generator
- pig that drown in mud becomes the king pig, if you kill it you get the great pork
- friendly witch that you can trade with like wandering trader
- custom redstone component
- colorful torches
- new tier tools and armor with ore you can find in the end
- tamable worm
- baby guardian that does half the damage
It will take minecraft into a whole new level of customizability and creativity
After all minecraft is a sandbox game and it should let players do whatever they want
In short:
Minecraft should make the functionality
And let the player choose how they combine the functionalities together to form something
It's the difference between lego and 3d printing
