Currently two main features of Minecraft's oceans stick out like a sore thumb. Tridents, and Ocean Monuments.
Tridents are too easy to obtain for what they are, but also much to grind-y. Ocean Monuments are incredibly challenging structures, but the loot is just incredibly disappointing. At the point in the game where a player is actually able to raid one of these, they won't need gold any more.
My suggestion is this -- let drowneds keep tridents, but just not ones that they drop upon death. Instead, make every Elder Guardian drop a Trident Shard. Since there are three elder guardians in each monument, the player would use three trident shards and two sticks to craft a trident.
This update would balance out two of the most unbalanced features in Minecraft. Hopefully Mojang considers this!
