People who live in dirt holes don't normally have a bed or a clock, so it may be hard to tell if night has passed. That's why I think instead of suggesting something like a rooster, I think there should be a Blackbird.
After doing some quick searches on the internet, I've learned that Blackbirds are common in Europe, Asia, and northern Africa, and are among the first to wake up in the morning. Now that we have that information, onto my idea.
I think that blackbirds should only spawn in temperate biomes early in the morning. From the moment the sun rises, they will sing their songs. When the sun sets, the blackbirds will no longer sing and try to find the nearest tree/leaf block and rest on it until the morning.
More ideas for the Blackbird
-Adult Blackbirds who spawn naturally will be afraid of the player, unless the player stands still while holding seeds. When this happens, the Blackbird will approach the player, giving them the opportunity to breed them.
-When breeding two blackbirds, one of them will go find a tree to lay it's eggs on (Similar to turtles laying eggs on sand).
-Baby Blackbirds don't have feathers, so they shouldn't be able to fly. Instead they will stay close to where they hatched until they grow up. The parents will also stay close to where they laid the eggs, and if you breed them again, they will attempt to lay their eggs on the same tree as their other eggs.
-Blackbirds should have the same trusting mechanic as foxes instead of being tamable.
