Hello. so in minecraft we know the layer of bedrock that lies beneath the world, however there isn't really much there save for the occasional creeper or zombie, ores, or a lava pool waiting to kill you while mining. So what if there was a mob to punish players who dug down too deep, called the biter.
The biter is a hostile mob that is a hallucination like the phantoms which could appear underground near bedrock in the overworld, It could spawn at Y levels (-59 to -64) and will attack the player if they happen to dig too far down. The player then gains a 1 minute effect called Nyctophobia which is used as a countdown for when the biter comes. The biter has an odd ability to crawl through stone and deep slate to ambush the player. this would be similar to how the warden can spawn or vanish with skulk. Some other features of the Biter would be that it has no eyes, has a skeletal like head that it can use to bite you with that looks like the bear-trap like spell evokers use, It also has dark fur around its body & has around 25 health points.
If the biter is slain, the player will get a item called a "Biter tooth" which can be used with a brewing stand to create a "potion of riddance" which lasts from around 1 minute to 4 minutes, this potion can be used to ward off certain hostile mobs such as phantoms & the biter itself temporarily until the effect runs out. The potion will cause hallucination like mobs to avoid the player, however the potion won't work on other mobs.
