I would like to give Minecraft's pets more life since they are only a decoration most of the time as wolves are usually useless in an adventure and cats most of the time rarely serve their purpose unless you have a lot of them. Better AI would be the first step, to make them better at path-finding and to be able to follow commands and to be more autonomous. Wolves and Cats should be able to follow new commands, like patrol, a command that makes the pet move around a designated area, to be able to put cats to run around your house and garden or to put wolves into a guardian state, to be able to defend like they should, similar to what the iron golem does. Cats should be able to look for things similar to the Allays but cats could find caves, mineshafts, mobs spawn instead. Wolves and Cats are currently useless as most of the time they are just an inconvenient. Wolves similar to cats should have more variety of textures and cats should also get more textures. Both pets would have rare equipment that gave them a second life or better stats. More mobs should be tamable and some of them should have an utility. Currently having a minecraft world with pets still makes it feel inhabited, as pets lack the AI to make things on their own and run around your base, farm, fortress or castle, etc. Pets need to act like actual pets and not like a mob that moves, emits sounds and sometimes scares some other mobs.
