The continued doubling-down on the player report system would be funny, if it weren't so sad.

The chief piece of feedback people continue to have is to remove the system entirely, and it feels like it's just fallen on more and more deaf ears. It's subjective and ambiguous, it's distrustful of players and existing server moderators, it's going to be abused no matter what, and it presents a breach of privacy for unreported players to boot.

In no uncertain terms, it is fundamentally a bad idea. Please, just get rid of it.

Mojang, Microsoft, whoever is in charge of this, if you're listening:

PLEASE either remove this or make it Opt-In only for third party servers, especially Private servers. And ESPECIALLY remove the "No Multiplayer Allowed" function of the ban, as just because you get banned on one giant server that has Dolores Umbridge levels of moderation shouldn't mean you aren't allowed to play on a tiny server your brother on the other side of the country runs.

There's a REASON people made mods to bypass the encryption.

Mojang did not address the issue with editing and removing content from the reports file, yet continued to defend that it was "unable to be falsified".
You need to make sure that ALL messages that are part of the report use a cryptographic signature linking back to the previous message so that any context that is REMOVED does not alter the context of the report! Multiple YouTubers have shown this is possible and not avoidable with the current system.

But then, there will now almost be a new mod that tricks the system into thinking that the chat is real and approved. There should just be a system that detects if chat is modded, and if it does, shows a pop up stating how it could be unsafe because chat is modded :

    Chat is modded

This server uses mods to tinker around with chat and might disable certain chat filters or chat reporting. Are you sure you want to continue?

Please rollback the "enforce-secure-profile" change so it defaults to false as it was prior to this pre-release.

These features are awful, and nobody wants them.

Well, the feedback going to the shredder is indeed confirmed after all.

Please give the playerbase an option to disable the visual feedback for modified chat messages. I can imagine it getting quite distuptive for servers using their own chat moderation system, that actively modifies chat messages to prevent harrassment in the first place.

I think besides it you should add a new splash — "Minecraft 1.19.84", to honor the memory of one of the most brilliant writers of all time.

Or another one — "We listen you", to show how important the community word is to you, Mojang :)

But the best, in my opinion, is "Minecraft 1.19.84: we listen to you".

Remove the chat reporting “feature” entirely. This directly goes against the nature of private servers, and is EXTREMELY easy to weaponize against active players. No Minecraft players want this, as much as Mojang has been lying otherwise.

If implemented, this will NOT help Minecraft, rather it will only push players to use illegitimate versions of the game. Not to mention, it will also clutter existing chat messages. AT THE ABSOLUTE BARE MINIMUM, THE CHAT FEATURE NEEDS TO BE OPT-IN NOT OPT-OUT.

A WORSE DECISION THAN ADDING ADS TO NETFLIX.

I wouldn't be surprised if servers refused to update to 1.19.1 this update is one of the worst you've ever made not only is it controversial, downright disgustingly distrustful of the community you also double down on it and take the blame for it exposing yourselves to countless death threats from people who were criticising MICROSOFT and not you ... frankly you should scrap the entire 1.19.1 update and pretend that it never existed

Get rid of chat reporting, or at least make it toggleable for server owners. I don't want to be afraid to chat on my own server :/

It feels disingenuous to keep making these feedback posts if you're clearly not going to listen to them.

Private servers should still be able to opt-out. People who know each other IRL should be able to chat as they do IRL.

After owning the game for 11 years, this is the worst patch I have ever seen implemented. Server owners have done absolutely fine with moderating chat without this spyware from Microsoft.

Disgraceful. You're asking the community for feedback and completely ignoring it and then have the audacity to continue asking for more feedback.

I honestly like the idea of Mojang handling chat reports. As you mentioned, it significantly helps server owners who don't have the capabilities to handle a full moderation team.

However, I'm VERY concerned about the lack of communication on opting-out, and just generally what that process looks like. I'm okay with it being on-by-default, server operators (such as myself) know how to adjust server.properties. However, there's been no clear communication from you about if we'll have the option to turn it off both when 1.19.1 releases and in the long-term future.

Additionally, I think the warning for unsigned messages should be disable-able on the client side. Make it an option that those who's Microsoft accounts are under parental controls can't change (or something similar to that) and I think you'll find a great middle ground between those who don't want to deal with global chat moderation and those who want to be protected by it.

Just please don't add chat reporting that superseeds servers own server moderation. Please don't add this feature AT ALL. If this goes through I'm never going to be able to enjoy this game without fear again.

This is a incredibly needless change, especially forcing it upon player owned servers. Most servers are already chat moderated by the owners themselves, if your concerned about children seeing things they shouldn't, making it so people can put an age restriction on their server's would be a much better way of going about it.

Adding to the noise here, another post about how this is a bad idea. Notice how unanimous this negative feedback is, should you proceed down this route you send a clear message you neither care about feedback nor your customers in general.

It take maturity to acknowledge when an idea was a mistake. Now is the time to show it.

Last update you received overwhelming amounts of critism due to your unnecessary implementation of chat reports, and to respond to that critisim you doubled down on the reporting even more. Start listening to the community. Stop this update.

    "Chat Trust Status"

...Because yes, individual players needing to be able to see whether or not chat messages are signed directly in the chat was one of the community's primary concerns. This was clearly the most important factor that needed to be addressed, and not...y'know, the ability for the client to basically completely falsify the context around any reported message. mods could made the replace any message with ban worthy ones

I know that Microsoft is just trying to make this game more kid-friendly, but c'mon, literally everyone hates the idea of a chat reporting system. It sounds good in theory but Communism sounds good in theory too but look at what happened with that "great" idea. That's a pretty realistic example to compare it too. I don't see anything good to come of this new system and it only points in the wrong direction. Also 1.19 was awesome maybe a few promises weren't upheld but the update was still very good.
