I'm deeply against implementing Bedrock style chat reporting due to how problematic the current system is on Bedrock. If this was to be implemented it should be restricted to realms and servers that opt-in, as community servers have their own rules and moderation already. Obviously, the better option would be to scrap the chat reporting "feature" altogether.

To keep it simple, the feature should be altered to only ban people from chat usage (except for commands added by the game and multiplayer servers). The punishment for being successfully reported feels too extreme for anyone to be banned from everything for being toxic in the chat box alone. Additionally, the censored word list should only matter for accounts under 18, let the older players have unfiltered chat. If the punishments weren't so incredibly strict, people could support the chat report feature.

The way the system is, it is like expelling a student from school for dropping a pencil on the floor. The punishment is just too extreme, and if I wanted to be moderated, I'd go download Minecraft Bedrock Edition instead of using Java edition.

I don't understand the players who are disagree with it. This is a amazing solution and you need to develop in this direction (add skin/ign reports)!

You should get rid of this ""Feature"". Server moderators already exist and do a better job of stopping people saying words you don't like. Also please explain to me why I get flagged for typing "Night"? why is NIGHT offensive?

This is my opinion: As long as I pay for my server, I get to set the rules. If you want to apply your rules to my server, you can pay for it.

An option I would totally agree on would be an age verification. You can set a server to be unmonitored, but you would need to be adult or something like 13+

Absolutely horrible idea. Get rid of it

I think a way to safely filter chat for children and prevent harassment without making literally everyone in the Minecraft fanbase angry would be to simply add parental controls to the game, and give parents the ability to disable chat through there. This way, server moderators can still have the freedom to give their server whatever atmosphere they want, and generally leave everyone happier.

Make chat reporting optional and customizable for third party servers. There is no sense in forcing this feature on all users in all modes of play at all times. Minecraft is nothing without its users. Start giving them tools instead of taking tools away from them.

Give us the option to toggle it and we will stop complaining. There is not a single way you can manage to make this update fair except if you Give us the option to toggle it because it's so fricking easy to abuse it and private servers have their own rules, you can't just force it on us and if you do most peoples are just gonna stop playing the new versions, are gonna get bored of those versions and stop playing Minecraft, this will make you lose money, players and popularity which is gonna kill the game. #saveminecraft

I think this is a great update to combat the rhetoric outlined in the FAQ. Brings the game up to date on modern multiplayer game standards of moderation and being able to report abuse occurring on Mojang software would be beneficial move.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to express our opinion, which is so important to you that you have it deep in "deep dark". Nobody asked for this feature, especially in this form. Thank you for 13 years of great immortal game so immortal that you decided to kill it yourself. Minecraft end at 1.16.

Innocent players could get banned with chat reporting. For example, what is to stop a toxic player from falsely reporting someone else? While there is the claim that humans will carefully check the reports, this is no guarantee that innocent players will be safe from bans. Minecraft moderators won't have the full context of the situation, and they very well could not have a good understanding of either the server or the player's culture. It's even possible that a moderator could discriminate against a player based on her race or beliefs.

In addition, there are literally millions of Minecraft players. How are the moderators going to keep up with all the reports? This will drain significant time and resources that could be directed toward other goals. The alternative, having bots handle the reports, would substantially increase the risk of innocent player bans.

Another problem with chat reporting is how it is making players furious. Far from solving the toxicity problem, it's increasing it! Also, as I said before, bad players could use this system to their advantage. There is a high chance they will flood Mojang with reports, or try to ban as many innocent players as possible. Far from stopping toxic players, it's potentially giving them more resources!

Leave us be Mojang. Let community ran servers to choose if they want the feature enabled or no. This feature will ruin Minecraft experience, not enhance it. Listen to the playerbase just a little bit and you'll see how much this feature is hated by the community! Leave us be!

Regards to Minecraft Java Edition 1.19.1 ~

    1. Adapt the Age Requirement System! The system in place to help identify age IS arbitrary! Here is a suggestion!

    1. Users who are ages 10-17 can create/join 10-17 age grouped public/private servers & can join private/public chat-reporting 18+ servers. Servers created by these users have chat-reporting on by default. Mojang will take action against servers/players breaking chat-regulations. If you are willing to harbor users under the age of 18; then YOU MUST be willing to moderate, asses, and take action for and/or against these servers/players WITH A REAL HUMAN BEING. Obviously if someone lies about their age, they are breaking EULA, respective action will be taken against user/servers, and reported to their local authorities if necessary.
    2. Users who are ages 18+ can create/join 18+ private/public servers & can join 13-17 age grouped public/private servers. If a user has a certain suspension(Determined by manual review of chat-reporting system); they can only join 18+ temporarily/permanently &/or can no longer join servers online that support chat-reporting. These users have the option to create/join private servers without the chat-reporting system toggled on.
    3. Servers within one of the two defined age groups & servers that are opting in/out of the chat-reporting system will be assigned with an appropriate icon and display a disclosure agreement screen; each respective to their nature.

You're adding this feature with the idea that it will be 100% foolproof, when in reality, it is 100% not. It may sound like a perfect solution, but the system itself would have to be perfect. You must realize that if even 1 person gets falsely banned, that your faq and other statements are null and void; therefore eliminating any trust between your players and your moderation team. The concept of this system is infeasible and will create more problems than it solves.
Please reconsider your ambitions and let your players' voices be heard.

This "feature" need at least to be reworked to avoid admins from beeing banned from theier own servers.

    It needs at least:

    - An Option for server admins to disable this complety
    - Or a workflow, that Server admins can choose what messages would be send to mojang and which not

Just get rid of it. Nobody wants it or needs it. We, the community, have been moderating our servers successfully on our own!

This being applied to private servers is ludicrous as someone having a private server should have control over all of their chat and parts of their server due to them being independent. This will also make people less likely to talk in big servers for fear of reprimanding.

How will you handle various languages?
For example, the sentence "I am late" is "Je suis en retard" in French. Will you have team members dedicated to French reports, or will players get banned for speaking their own language? How will you handle people who make mistakes in their second language? Will your team be big enough to handle all the edge cases better than what third-party servers are already doing? Or wil you ban everyone using what oyu have decided are bad words?

Do you want to rename the game to 1984 simulator because that is what your speeding towards right now

Minecraft is meant to be a sandbox game meaning that the community should hold the power to monitor themselves which they do just ask hypixle, the Hive, or any server they have mods read chat

The only way your chat reporting works is for every one on the INTERNET to be honest good Samaritans which is about as likely as this feature being like universally.

in short remove it and never try to add this stuff again or just rename it to 1984

litterally every server already has some kind of banning and microsoft adds this. this is just going to make people ignore 1.19.1 and all future versions, thus killing the game.

Add the chat report feature but have it send the reports to the server owner, let the server owner set the rules and punishments. That is just about the only way this could be acceptable.

Stop censoring people with differing opinions.  Hate speech is too broad of a category and if somebody says something you don't like, you can mute them.  There is no reason to report them unless you want to silence opposing views
