Player Chat Reporting Feedback

We've received a number of questions since player chat reporting in Java first went into snapshot a few weeks ago. To give you a better understanding of how this feature will work and for answers to common questions, head over to our new blog post and Player Chat Report FAQ.

    I don't believe this feature needs to exist. Players have been moderating their own servers for the longest time. This feature is only unnecessary and upsetting. I love this game. I hate this feature.

    Some of us have the ability to police our own servers. The “feature” should not exist on any platform (bedrock as well) or at the VERY LEAST give admins a toggle switch to turn it off so we can handle our own. Microsoft needs to leave well enough alone and stop trying to fix what isn’t broken.

    Good intention but absolutely horrendous implementation. When the servers aren't being run by the game itself, the game shouldn't interfere. Admins and staff have been moderating servers perfectly for the past decade and the entire playerbase wants it to stay that way. Listen to your community, Mojang.

    This idea should be scrapped.  I do not believe for a second that their will be enough staff to actually review reports.  People mass flag/report others all the time.  This will absolutely be abused, and server owners/mods will be targeted.  Bot makers are salivating at the idea of mass flagging players just for "fun"

    Now if only Hytale would hurry up and give an alternative to this stale game.   Stop adding features people don't want/need and work on adding the new content you keep promising and failing to deliver.

    I have three suggestions.

    1. Remove it, as most of the community wants.

    2. Allow server owners/admins to toggle this rule. (aka the people who make the server rules)

    3. Change it to mutes, and still let people play.

    I know this had been said time and time again, but you need to stop babysitting your players. Truly bad apples will be reported outside the game, and everything else can be handled by server moderators.

    I really dislike this feature. If this is anything like Bedrock's current system, you will not be given a reason to your ban like how Roblox or other online platforms do it. Without a reason for your ban, you have no way of knowing if it is false. Can you be moderated for private discussions on LAN networks? Singleplayer? Will things be taken out of context? So many questions, and not enough answers.

    I understand why Minecraft might want a reporting feature to prevent players from being bullied or hurt on a popular kids' game. The only problem- it's buggy and implemented the wrong way. Trying to say the word "night" doesn't work because the report system uses a lazy system to prevent the *n* word by banning the phrase "nig". And also, what if adults playing this game wish to say cuss words in chat? Minecraft has an audience of more than just 6-year olds. And why is it so easy to avoid the restrictions? It should at least work upon implementation, right? And why implement it now, when servers and realms have already come up with their own solutions to this problem that are better than a coded report system? Moderators exist for a reason. I feel this report system is fine but is just going to be a hassle to avoid in the future. The reasons for it being there don't outweigh the drawbacks.

    If you dont moniter the chat of private servers How is it then possible to even suspect a player of committing a offence?  Either You secretly Do still Moniter chat logs of private servers OR you allow anyone to make an unfounded claim against another and maliciously get them banned. Either way this needs to be gone. And no monitering private chat is not an option. 
    Here comes the end of Minecraft its going down hill. I will never again by another account ever.

    Just get rid of it. Long-term, or even relatively short-term, this will not be profitable for you Microsoft. Your userbase is staunchly opposed to the change, and Minecraft's integrity will take a massive dive.

    A large reason for Minecraft's consistent and unrelenting success is the fact that it is so "free" and modular, every aspect is able to be controlled by the player and that is why a large portion of the userbase even loves the game. By taking away freedom from the player, you stand to lose customers, lose reputation and ultimately kill off the game through perceived negligence.

    I know the idea behind this is to protect marginalised communities, but this actually actively has the opposite effect, as those who previously felt supported in Minecraft communities now feel restricted and as if their voices are not heard.

    Please understand that the player base does not want this and will not accept this. Not now, not ever. Minecraft should remain free from censorship, ideological or otherwise and private servers should remain policed by their respective owners. You stand to lose profit, users and ultimately your integrity and reputation if you allow this to pass through. Thank you.

    many people who play the game are old, but there are also young ones. instead of chat reports, add parental controls that censor everything in the filter only for the user. I hate toxicity but sometimes i enjoy being toxic, I don't want to get banned for enjoying my favorite video game the way I like it.

    add an option in server config to turn this feature off and add an indicator for players to see if the feature is turned on or off in the server.

    This is easily the worst update I have ever seen. Not only is this censorship in private servers invasive and unnecessary, but now you can potentially be permanently banned from saying something dumb in your own server. I'll be cancelling my Realms subscription, and I encourage everyone else to do the same. You vote with your money, that's all companies care about. Move to a 3rd party hosting service that allows plugins to block these BS features.
