Either make it toggleable or axe it. This will absolutely get abused and there's no way for you to have enough people to have a human moderator go through each report. I get it for public servers, but private servers is a bridge too far.

I don't see many questions or lack of understanding. We do understand and the majority is vehemently against it. Instead of reframing it like we're misunderstanding, it would be much more respectable to explain why you are doing this when it is clearly unwanted as well as easy to mod around. It's both unliked and not useful, so please give us the respect we deserve and give us a real explanation.

I think you got enough feedback in your last post about 1.19.1. There's no point in asking the same thing over and over in the hope that the community's opinion will change. It's a totally unacceptable feature that almost no one likes.

Although you'll be trying to find even one person who agrees to it to the end, so that you can do the same thing you did with fireflies, saying that literally everyone asked you to remove them because they're toxic to a set of polygons with AI attached to them for jumping. I'm sure you'll do the same for the current feature, passing off lies as community opinion.

I really think this is the worst idea you ever had. More than 10 years now and this had never been an issue, there's litteraly a mod on fabric/forge wich had been realesed only hours after the update to disable the mojang chat moderation in response; the only thing this do is destroying your reputation has a dev team that don't listen to their community.
Hope this will change your mind and glhf for handle this.

All of the hate and problems with this feature stem from its mandatory nature. If you make an opt-out and give us the option to use it, then all of this goes away. Forcing this on us does nothing to help.

This feature could result as a problem for Adult and Anarchy servers which may prefer to manage their own ban system, there should be the option in the server.properties where the owner can decide if Microsoft banned players are also banned in their server and maybe add the option in the Parental Control settings to disallow the permission to entry these kinds of servers.

In that way the parent is able to prevent his child to enter a server made and designed for adults and the server owner keeps the authority and indipendence of his ban system.

Haven't engaged with the Minecraft feedback site in YEARS, but I came back to find this article. Minecraft Bedrock had already had issues with shadowbanning players without warning, several have had this issue for a ridiculous amount of time and didn't know how to work around it, and now we have this???

This 'feature' is directly seizing control from massive server operators and people just trying to enjoy their darn game. People would just blink and turn the other way if this was optional AND still guided by server owners. There is NO WAY you can sustain this kind of feature with the vast amount of servers that exist, even MORE SO with Java Edition, because that game has literally enough modifications to provide unique and fresh content for DECADES!

I understand that you probably don't want kids having to rely on plugins or whatever to stay safe when playing online, but this is not the way to go about it. If you really want this in the game so bad, please actually consider reworking this system with the small changes the community has been so vocal about. I enjoy this game the most by myself, but I still care about the experiences of others. I don't want players to start fearing playing online because they might lose ALL online play if little Timmy gets butthurt about getting wrecked in skywars.

The Wild update was meh (only 1 new surface biome??) but that's alright. The bedrock edition is super buggy. It's far from ideal but I guess I'm okay with that too. But this, this is where I draw the line. You can't keep making the game worse. The gamers will not stand for this. We as a community will drive this system into the ground if it gets implemented. It boggles my mind that after 10 years of building up an amazing game they would have the audacity to make such a horrible change.

I'm sorry there were a perfect 69 comments, but this is far too important to not comment and limit its spread.

Adding this will not only not help the community but hurt it as it should be the server owners the ones who should permit whatever they want and not allow what they don’t want, it is just unfair to get banned form using multiplayer out of context. Just get rid of this “feature” when it’s going to resolve in more problems hurting the community and the game.

Such a feature is not only widely disliked (as evidenced by public outcry), but will certainly hamper future players who ever dare to try and enjoy the game in the future.

Please completely get rid of it, it’s unneeded and will just cause problems. It’s not worth the time or investment

Nothing good will come of adding a chat report feature. If someone doesn't like what is being said in chat they can just not look at/participate in chat. Servers would be the only place this is used, and they already have teams of staff perfectly capable of managing this. Out of respect for us players who purchased the game, don't keep this mistake of a feature.

Why are you adding this change? Do you not trust us to moderate our own servers?

Ah, another answer to the question that nobody but Microsoft's lawyers have asked.

This is how a company drives growth in their competitors' products.

i do fell that minecraft servers like hypixel have had full control over there chat banes and bringing in chat profanity filters is going to make servers not want to trust mojang studios with the control of keeping there server safe. as bedrock has already showed your highly trained staff is not highly trained at all one miss click and you have to buy a new account. and with minecraft accounts being quite expensive in some parts of the world this would be depressing at least. not even talking about the hours of grinding in bedwars ect. can you understand putting in a profanity filter is a bad idea already youtuber with a growing fan base are blowing up because they are telling there viewers the profanity filter is going to destroy minecraft fanbase and how its a terrible idea i hope you mojang can make the right choose to remove the profanity filter. in a hole from bedrock and java.

Please, don't turn Minecraft into reddit. Individual servers already have individual moderation. Centralizing moderation and having "professional moderators" arbitrarily decide what qualifies as "hate speech" "or "harassment" is draconian at best. A feature to allow users to block other users (no direct messages from blocked user, inability to see blocked users main chat messages, etc) would be much more welcome, while preserving the various levels of sovereignty that make player run servers so diverse, vibrant and varied.

Multiple online communities have already gone down the path you're proposing, with disastrous results. Learn from their mistakes, and take note of the overwhelming opposition of your paying customers, please. Thank you for your consideration, assuming anybody actually reads this.

Servers should be able to moderate their own chat, and singleplayer chat moderation shouldn't even have been implemented, it serves no purpose besides Lan, but in that case why report someone you're living with or connected to the same wifi when you can just tell them something? Chat and sign moderation should at the very least be toggleable both client side and server side in the server properties file. The community doesn't want this "feature" and it may lead to the downfall of minecraft, at least any new versions after 1.19. A tech company not getting along with the internet doesn't seem like a road to success.

Chat reporting for java is one of the most worst things I have seen in Minecraft history for a while. Jaca server owners are paranoid and scared that they could be banned from Minecraft entirely just by the new, abused, and buggy chat system. Java servers had always had chat moderation and it work really well until chat had a update. Because of the bugs I have seen people get banned for chats they didn’t even say. If chat doesn’t revert sooner or later, Minecraft, will finally rest in a grave all because of a multiplayer chat system.

Get rid of it server side, a good alternative (if it has to be added) would be to add a functional client side censor that is toggleable.

I highly suggest letting private servers handle moderation on their own. They have done it for years successfully. This feature will definitely get taken advantage of by trolls.

So I guess my Minecraft experience ends here. Unfortunate. It was fun while it lasted. Too bad my daughter won't get to experience it like I did. What a terrible mistake.
