Whether this is implemented or not, your reputation has been damaged beyond repair. How can we trust a team that is trying to backstab us?

I'm going to be honest here, I think that almost all of what was said in the new post was good, except for one thing.

... Minecraft and will have the consequence of a temporary suspension or permanent ban depending on the severity and frequency.

I'm sorry, but permabans are unacceptable. If someone has paid full price for this game, then they should have the game, not a part of it. Being permabanned from multiplayer should never happen and frankly does not belong in any video game, unless it is administered by a private server owner themself

What part of "WE DON'T WANT IT" are you just NOT understanding!?!

Or do I need to say it in roughly translated Swedish...

    Vi vill inte ha chattrapportering!!!

I understand moderation is important especially with younger kids playing this game a lot, but younger kids can also be extremely mean and if this isn't actual moderation by humans, so many people will abuse this for bullying or even discrimination. Please let big server moderators do their jobs and let private servers with friends navigate things maturely. Make this toggle-able, remove it, or have actual humans review every single one.

even after having read your blog posts and seeing the top comments seeming to have not read them, I still think this is a bad idea.

Please, just get rid of it entirely. It's wildly unpopular, distrustful of your player base, and fundamentally just a plain bad idea. Not to mention the massive opportunity for abuse it presents, no matter how well your intentions.

This game is over a decade old and I guarantee most of its players are old enough to handle swearing and even "Hate speech". Who exactly are you trying to appeal to here? Who is this update for?

Servers should police themselves, not Microsoft.

Either get rid of this feature or make it point to the server owners and not the Nether fortress of Microsoft, where Bill Gates' legacy has gone to die.

You should make it be able to be toggled on or off, and when it is on, it shouldn't be a month ar even forever causing them to create a new account. If on it should be 12 hours-5 days at most because we don't want to waste money just cause we got banned.

Most servers already have this function. It’s not needed.

I don’t see why you feel it necessary to take this on yourself for Java when the Java server community has been moderating itself without your interference for over a decade now. Leave it alone.

Please remove this. Your implementation goes directly against player feedback and makes you look like you don't trust your players to moderate themselves. The opportunity for abuse that this presents FAR outweighs the potential good it would do. Someone there has to understand that. For the sake of your continued playerbase, I hope someone understands that.

you've already seen how this failed on bedrock, why would you bring it to java? leave the banning to server moderators, who will always have 100% /more context/ than this "system" ever could. at the very least, let this be something that can be toggled. nobody wants this. people who run big servers don't need this, they already have a moderation team. people who run small servers don't need this, it's a small server and they can request help. just don't.

Just get rid of it. It’s clear no one wants it and it is getting a very negative response. Servers have been handling themselves completely fine all these years, there’s no need for this.

A solution to chat moderation and word censorship that I think satisfies both the people who like it and the people who hate it.

A lot of people hate chat reporting, and for good reason. I'd say the main problem with it is that there's no way to disable it. A lot of adults/teens play minecraft, and adults/teens like to swear and I think they should be able to, especially if it's a private server that they are literally paying to host.

If the main goal of the word censorship (I refer to keyword blurring that is already on Bedrock edition) is to protect kids, I suggest that the censoring be client side and require the connected Microsoft account's password to be entered in to toggle the setting to off. It lets adults have the freedoms they've had to openly swear in the past, while also keeping kids from seeing that kind of language at the discrepancy of the parent/account owner so the kid can't just turn it off themselves.

As for chat reporting, I do not think chat reporting should exist, but if they really want to put it in. It should allow the server moderators to enable/disable it themselves and have reports go to the owner, not Microsoft/Mojang, unless the server owner chooses for reports to go to Microsoft/Mojang.

If yall are so worried about a child seeing a *gasp* swear word than bloody make a separate game called 'Babycraft'.  Most of the player base seems to be teens/adults so the whole babyproofing is just a giant insult.

the extent this feature goes to with its banning is UNPRECIDENTED for any game, let alone a game that doesn't even have officially run servers. all multiplayer servers are moderated by the people who pay for them or people they know, and staff in those servers are always going to do a better job than whatever handful of poor interns get stuck sifting through reports made with this awful system. it's nothing microsoft needs to go stickin its nose in, and it only serves to make people scared of multiplayer, because people can be easily reported and banned for things that are allowed by the owner of that server.

it's a terrible idea. get rid of it.

    "Chat Trust Status"

...Because yes, individual players needing to be able to see whether or not chat messages are signed directly in the chat was one of the community's primary concerns. This was clearly the most important factor that needed to be addressed, and not...y'know, the ability for the client to basically completely falsify the context around any reported  messages that’s a quote of Reddit I agree with

Will not update unless this form of censorship is either toggleable on servers, or removed. Games should not censor what is said, it is not the job of a game to commit speech or thought-control - let that be the job of legal guardians, or other groups who find things acceptable or not - especially in a sandbox game, where everything is limitless, freedom, expression, creativity. The game should be a game, not a parent replacement. This update: 0/10.

In the current state of things, I really hope that a soon(tm) competitor will get published and can cure the same itch that Minecraft has - that said from a old beta veteran, with 500+ of days logged.

ps: still waiting for azalea logs and firefly particles.

maybe replace it with parental control

it can be seperated into below or above 18. swearing will be filtered and profanity will be muted. but for 18+ those wont happen
