I've been playing Minecraft for the majority of the past decade, and the only mods I've used religiously to augment my play experience are those which add an activatable function button to the inventory/chest GUI that automatically sorts the contents of that container by certain customizable parameters. I find that the current UX of meticulously clicking each item into its proper place is detrimental to the core gameplay loop of Minecraft. By my ADHD standards, daylight in Minecraft is already too precious a resource to spend on boring inventory management mechanics which have not been innovated upon since the very conception of the game.
This idea could be implemented with relative ease compared to other updates which actively add new content items. At the very least, a sort button could organize the player character's inventory by itemID, ascending from left to right, wrapping around each row. It might be nice, however, to add special parameters that dictate certain items to pool together by relevance (ex: construction blocks, food items, tools, nature drops each staying sorted next to other items in the same category exclusively).
Lastly, I do realize that inventory sorting mechanics have been proposed on other feedback threads, however, these threads are either in reference to the spin-off game Dungeons, or are years old and currently dead threads. I hope that this post is allowed to stay up, because this is honestly the only feedback I will ever have.
