Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Are they another way to get paper? Do they look like cattails? Do they have to be right next to water? More info, please.

You will not be able to get paper from reeds, yes they will look like cattails. The reeds would grow in the water (1 or 2 blocks under only), and right next to the water on land. They would grow in groups and along the shores here and there in those specific biomes. When you destroy this plant you get some combination of sticks, cattails (if you destroyed the part of the plant that had a cattail on it) (the cattail is an edible part of the plant), and string (this would be the first plant in which string is obtainable from a plant). So the reeds will be a very good plant to have and since they are only in specific biomes they won’t be too common for players to get their hands on. It will also just help with the over all look in those biomes. If you destroy the reeds with shears you will get the reed plant which you can plant yourself by or in water.

Okay! These should be common in savanna, jungle, badlands, and desert rivers, and about half as rare as sugarcane in lush rivers. Shouldn't show up in aquifers or oceans, and never in frozen rivers or rivers in frozen biomes.

I agree. I want reeds. The proper thing, in water, with long hairs that have a swaying animation. And why not cattails, as a separate thing, as well. It's weird that the swamp got updated but we never got that. They would be neat to have more variety in decorating ponds besides lily pads and seagrass. Sugar canes' look has barely changed since Minecraft even is a thing and their visual style is distinctly beta. Not a fan.

Imagine the reeds like they look in a game like Genshin Impact.

I don't think every feature needs to have a purpose beyond decorative.
