Double Speed Hopper

One item I think would be very helpful is a hopper that operates at double the speed of a standard hopper. This would not be as fast as a Minecart with Hopper, but would be about half as fast.

This new item could be called a double hopper, and could be crafted the same as a usual hopper, but maybe with something like redstone dust to give it the extra speed.

This would allow us to create much faster item sorting systems, and item delivery systems were speed is critical, but using a Minecart with Hopper is really not practical. This would also be cheaper to craft than a standard minecart with hopper.
